I was on Facebook and I saw this link being shared. It’s about a Pakistani man and an Indian woman falling in love and getting married. In this case, they had the added complication of it being a Hindu-Muslim marriage, but from reading the comments on the post, I saw that there is the idea an Indian and Pakistani cannot get married even if they are Muslim. Does anyone have thoughts on these things? Do you know anyone who has been in a cross-border marriage?

The couple in question were not based in their native countries when this happened. I know of one couple who are born and raised in the USA (though their parents are from India and Pakistan) and are going strong so far despite being Sikh and Muslim respectively. There are others where the religions are the same (Muslim) and the couple were raised in their respective countries but met abroad. All marriages are going strong.

I'm Pakistani and my husband is Indian (both Muslim) and we're fine. It's never been a point of contention.

Unless you are a celebrity, in that case u will have to answer 100 ppl like shoaib and sania, if not it should be good. I actually encourage such marriages.

I have seen at least 10 instances and they are as good as any other marriages
The only problem I have seen is during the cricket matches :)

i actually know of a married couple who meet online. The guy was from Indian and the girl in Pakistan. He lied to his parent and visited her in Pakistan (he told his parents he was going for a cricket match.) They have been happily married for several years, and living in the US now.

Biggest problem is during intra family kabaddi matches. They can't agree on kabdikabdikabdi or utthuthurhuthuthuthuthu

My sister is married to an Indian...happily married for 12 years and have 3 kids Mashallah

I know one of my friend got married to an Indian girl. They are living very happy married life.

My hubby loves his Indian cricket team. I couldn't care less about the Pakistani cricket team but he's always making fun of them LOL!

Khatti and her hubby are also an indo-Pak couple I believe

yes, trhey do work as long as both couples live outside India, Pakistan. i know a few couples who only visit their own respective home countries separately because for a Pakistani to get an Indian visa is hard...it takes months to process the application and there is no guarantee that they will grant a visa.
