Re: Indo-Chinese relations and the American factor...
Why would China and US fight in the first place? US is china's biggest trading partner with China- why would China undo all that?
Well, China is increasingly in competition for oil and other resources... China is also pushing hard to increase its influence in the region.
Is America going to sit around and allow China to undermine its authority?
America probably wont try to harm China in any way, but it will try to contain it or find a way to maintain their superiority one way or the other.
Most people believe India Americas trump card in this regard. India, with its strong American leaning can keep things balanced.
India should be more concerned with its own problems, but its quite evident that India has superpower ambitions and it isnt going to turn down an oppurtunity when it comes-a-knockin.
I doubt China or America really care about Indias povert etc... Most states are more concerned with self intrest. Albeit, America disguises its self intrest as the intrest of the people yearning to be free.
I suppose the nuclear agreement that US and India have signed or are trying to sign has the nothing but good intentions for Indias people at the heart of it aswell...
Re: Indo-Chinese relations and the American factor...
Yeah, but India has taken sides in the past... During the Cold War India was very close to Russia... Despite that, India is now become increasingly pro American..
But Pakistan need not worry about trying to play both camps, eventually, Pakistan will choose the saide that best or remain neutral.
India doesnt have the same luxury, India will have a harder choice.
what are you talking about dude?
india and russia had a good two-way give and take relationship during cold war era. on the other hand, india and china have zero going on. india and US have some promise of future cooperation, but at present, nothing much. india can say no to aligning with either party, and neither US nor china has much leverage for blackmail and arm-twisting.
pakistan has huge dependencies on both china and US for its defence programs, and developmental projects. either party can effectively cripple pak's ability to defend itself by just backing out of ongoing processes.
Now care to explain how India has a harder choice than Pakistan in picking allies?
Re: Indo-Chinese relations and the American factor...
just for the good name of queers - yes, india would think twice, maybe two dozen times before it would ally against someone openly at war with russia. Russia is about half as important to india as china or america is to Pakistan. hope that clarifies matters.
