Today there is an article on DailyMail about the Amazon Indians with close up pictures of their lifestyle (link is a bit explicit for GS :p). And so it got me thinking, are we crossing some moral line by invading their villages/ tribes and taking pictures? They have been hidden away in forests for hundreds of years, so do we leave them alone and never learn some of their secrets about medications, proper use of resouces, etc? Or do we make an effort to get to know them and maybe introduce some modern ways of living?
And should they be treated equally under the law, considering their unique situation?
LOL.... occupied their whole land, restricted them to reservations and now concerned about their privacy?
Well what can be done about that now? Occupation of the land, talked about in the article, took place even before Columbus, it didn't just happen 20 years ago. Yes Europeans brought diseases, committed murders, etc. but what about modern day behavior towards these people?

I don't think they're treated like artifacts. Rather, people are curious and want to learn about their lifestyle. How they different from those who are living in villages/ Northern areas of Pakistan? Or Afghan tribes who's pictures show up on Time magazine or National Geographic?
There are so many ethnic groups and all of them are cut off from rest of the country. Reason why I compare PK or Afghan tribes with Indigenous people is because I get the same feeling when I see their pictures published is world wide magazines. Most likely they have no idea how their very own pictures are becoming commercialized, something we go out of our way to protect for our self and our families. but we find it okay to invade in their privacy, while protecting ours?

They have been doing life very successfully for longer then any other civilization.
Those half naked people know things we can only wish to know.
Best thing leave them alone that if we are not able learn some thing from them.
