Stuart Binny, with six ODIs, is the least experienced member of India’s World Cup squad © AFPAllrounders Stuart Binny and Akshar Patelhave been included in India’s squad for the 2015 World Cup. There were no major surprises among the 15 players in terms of either inclusions or exclusions after the selectors met in Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon to pick the team.
The squad has five batsmen, two wicketkeeper-batsmen, three allrounders - two left-arm spinners, one medium-pacer - four seamers and one specialist spinner. In addition to the 15 selected for the World Cup, seamers Mohit Sharma and Dhawal Kulkarni were chosen to travel to Australia for the one-day tri-series that follows the Tests.
Ravindra Jadeja has been included despite leaving the tour of Australia with a shoulder injury, and Ishant Sharma, also selected, has a problem with his knee.
“Jadeja is at present going under a rehabilitation programme. He is doing wonderfully well,” BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel said. "We had a detailed discussion today with the BCCI physio [Nitin Patel] and we are quite hopeful he will be match-fit within the next ten days.
“Ishant has a temporary injury with which he is doing well. But he has been advised by our present [team] physio not to play the current Test [in Sydney]. He will be fit for the tri-series.”
When asked if Yuvraj Singh - who was not among the 30 probables for the World Cup - had been discussed at the meeting, Patel said: “Not only Yuvraj Singh, a lot of other players were also discussed apart from the 30, and after a lot of deliberation [the team was finalised] in the presence of all the five selectors as well as captain MS Dhoni and coach Duncan Fletcher, who were there on conference call.”

Re: India's World Cup Squad.

Not bad. Three gimpy players in Sir Jadeja Bhuvaneswar and Ishant (hair on eyes) Sharma

Re: India's World Cup Squad.

Selectors decided to give weightage to youth over experience and build a team for the future. Might be a good strategy in the long run.

Re: India's World Cup Squad.

They are not going far with that line up.

Re: India's World Cup Squad.

Dur Fitay Muh :D

Re: India's World Cup Squad.

I think its a good choice. a well-balanced team.

From other teams' point of view, its good to see Ishant sharma in the team. Now Pakistan has more chances.

Re: India's World Cup Squad.

However far India goes in the WC will be because of its batting, and this batting line up is as good as it gets.

Re: India's World Cup Squad.

Trouble is whatever runs this batting line up scores the bowling line up seems unable to defend it. That is the problem. Batting wise probably the best line up in the world at the moment.

Re: India's World Cup Squad.

Indians seem to depend on the other team's batting mistakes for wins. The kind of erratic bowling dished out by Ishant Sharma, Stuart Binny, Umesh Yadav seem to help them in ODIs and T20s. Which means their fielding must be flawless.

Re: India's World Cup Squad.

Raina needs to lose weight. He was such an active fielder. Made couple of miscues in the field. A catch when he was in leg slip I think hung up long enough. The old Raina gets to that in his sleep.

I like the guys attitude - team player. No excuse for having a paunch - however small - at such a young age. He probably is 27.

Re: India's World Cup Squad.

Agree 100%. That's why we do better when we chase.

Re: India's World Cup Squad.

Well at least you are guaranteed to win one match and that is the opener against Pakistan. We have never beaten India in the world cup clashes and so probably the tradition will continue.

Re: India’s World Cup Squad.

:smack: Shubh Shubh bolen yar.. Chalen hamare indian guppies to khush hogae kamazkam :bummer:

Re: India’s World Cup Squad.

!. We have never beaten them in world cup clashes.
2. Even the Indian bowlers can run through our current batting line up.

Re: India's World Cup Squad.

:D

Re: India's World Cup Squad.

Roger Binny made sure that his son was in the WC squad :)

Re: India's World Cup Squad.

Oh he is the son of Roger Binny. Good bowler.

Re: India's World Cup Squad.

Roger Binny Madan Lal and Karsan Ghavri played around same time. All could bat also. Mohinder Amarnath was decent all rounder though could enter team as pure batsman.

Re: India's World Cup Squad.

Good one but not good enough to beat Pakistanis this time

Mark my words

Pakistan are going to beat India in WC this time

Re: India’s World Cup Squad.

Last time also we marked your words. But Pakistan did not beat India. :chai:
