Two entries from India

Taare Zameen Par and

Tingya as independent entry

Tingya nominated at the 81st Academy Awards

Mumbai: It is the movie Taare Zameen Par that is India’s official entry for the foreign-film category. But critically acclaimed Tingya will still make the trip as an independent entry at the 81st Academy Awards.

Tingya- A Mangesh Hadawale film

TAARE ZAMEEN PAR :: Official website

The makers of the Marathi film*Tingya *aren’t giving up hope Tingya is being entered into the general categories as an independent entry.

But for debutant director Mangesh Hadawale, translating his dream Tingya to the big screen was an uphill task. With no technical background, Hadawale’s script had been rejected by 41 producers for being commercially non-viable and Marathi centric.

"When I translated the script of Tingya to the producers they said the film was rubbish, Ashutosh Gowarikar was interested but he asked me to wait until Jodha Akhbar was done,” says Director of *Tingya *

Taare Zameen par was excellent movie.Loved it.
