India's hospital strikes continue - opposition to affirmative action for low castes

Re: India's hospital strikes continue - opposition to affirmative action for low castes

Let them challenge by hard work and lots of motivation. I know, nepotism is there. but that's somewhat different issue altogether.

Besides, in management we seriously need people who are commited, talented, hardworking and well experienced.

You know what......there is a company called 'wipro e peripherals' now renamed as WEP in my place. They have their own policy towards social responsibility. They give 'first' preference to those who are 'poor and talented'.

Re: India's hospital strikes continue - opposition to affirmative action for low cast

irst thing...OBCs are generally not that poor when u compare them to SC's and ST's.
And about ur worry about people not reaching the top, I dont know where u got this information from, but I dont think that is true. Market will decide the future of such companys where deserving candidated are neglected on the basis of caste. Such companies will never be able to make it big.
Having studied full time in India I know how difficult it is for a general candidate to get into any kind of govt jobs. What i am saying is why not have a reservation based on family income. Reservation based on caste is only a ploy to exploit castism in HInduism and keep it alive and divide the people.
My cousin who was working for the matereological department in Hyderabad had been in his position from the time he joined is in the same post while due to reservation many people junior to him are having posts much above his post. U know something reservation has killed the public sector in India.. so u want to have it in Private sector too.

I have one question for you guys. Why the southern states are developing faster than the rest of the country.

Re: India’s hospital strikes continue - opposition to affirmative action for low castes

They have taken action to strip the Brahmins of their dominancy, that is why they are more successful.

Re: India's hospital strikes continue - opposition to affirmative action for low castes

On the question of reservation..
Answer is in supporting them through the education system. Since that's a tougher part reservations are simpler and convenient method....
Answer is in having reservation may be till class 12th..... after that is profession which impacts economic growth..
Though there isn't any attempt by government to push reservation where it matters........ building a person during formative stages of a child....

Re: India’s hospital strikes continue - opposition to affirmative action for low castes

Normally your motives are biased though you do pick right news article. In this case your article is off the mark… Though any way I am talking to wall..

For the benifit of others.
The Southern states are sucessful since they have strong education systems, hardworking people and being away from Delhi they don’t look at Delhi for growth and take own decisions..
Now Haryana, Punjab, Gujarat, are already very successful states and all are from North..
Dont’ simplify complex issues…

Re: India's hospital strikes continue - opposition to affirmative action for low castes

I think I answered this one..
You have another one where you asked about corporate sector top brass.
You are hitting nail on its head, If a person will be supported through the highter education he will make it to pvt concern since he has a degree from IIT/ IIM. Though after that its performance.

Lets take it this way the Key Result Area of Governement should be..
50% of the person getting through the examination from 5 years from not should be from SC/ST/ OBCs... affirmative action to win this...
<>
Rather than force it..........
Than when these people would come to corporate world they will excel and get to top positions.......

Dalits have faced centuries of oppression at the hands of the upper castes. They perform the most menial and hazardous jobs in India, and many Dalit women are sold into prostitution. Many restaurants keep separate drinking vessels for Dalit use, and Dalits often live downstream of the higher castes, as they are considered a polluting influence. This segregation even extended to the relief camps set up in south-east India following the 2004 tsunami.

Southern state has a better educational infra structure than northern states. We have lesser natural resources. Hence we need to work more for our living.
Till about 10 years ago there was migration from south to north for better living. Now the trend have changed, now there is considerable people from the north in southern states. The priority and the economy of the nation have changed and that lead to new found wealth in southern state.
