Have you noticed in your school, uni, etc that its usually Indians that are more populated in these educational programs? That they have a higher frequency entering undergrad? Entering masters programs? Entering professional schools? Entering phd programs? And also doing better in these programs?
Why is it that Pakistanis are not doing as good in these areas?

PCG, at my university mostly undergrad/grad indians are the ones who came from India just to study.. I haven't seen many American Born Indians as compared to American Born Pakistanis in my school. And most of those Indians are from wealthy families thats why they end up studying abroad..However, in my public health department most grad Indians are the ones who actually did their MBBS(MD) in India and now doing MPH as well as studying for USMLE.. the minute they get their scores for USMLE, either they go back to India to practice medicine as MBBS or stay here for their residency, depending on the score. No one in particular isinterested in MPH and I just hate it because during my interview my advisor asked me if I am doing MPH to get into med school as some Indians/Pakistanis do.. I wasn't very pleased to hear that!
At my school, I have seen Pakistanis doing much better than Indians, but then I don't about the rest of the schools, so can't say anything.

Don't know but one thing is for sure. You will not find many Pakistani females coming from Pakistan to study. You will see lots of Indian and Bangladeshi female students.

That's what a family member of mine says. That its because the population of Pakistanis is not that big to begin with. But empirical evidence points to more Pakistani families tending to promote bumhood among their kids than what you see with Indian families?
Is it because Pakistanis are only beginning to taste "baahir ki hawa" (outside air)?

One thing I noticed in Engineering majors is that there are lot of Indian women doing master's and there husbands are working here. I am amazed to see so many Indian ladies have an undergrad in Engg.

India also has better unis in general, so it's easier for them to get admission in postgrad programs.

Yes it is quiet true.But it is not that India have around 1 billion and pakistan at around 150 million.In UK there are around 1.2 million Indians and 1 million pakistani and 500000 Bangladeshi (Mostly from Selute) .But still you will find Most of the pakistanis and bangladeshis do not able to complete their studies.This is true in US also.

I have a theory about this root cause. May be because many Indian immigrants come there for doctor, engineer and hotel/motel owner. EVen though all jobs and professions are valuable if honest work, still high professions make more money and better surrounding. So kids and children grow up in better school atmospehere. When they grow up their parents have money. So they go to good college ...and cycle goes on and on.
But if parents are only doing jobs that pay only for food then how they can send to college?

I agree with PCG. I have just come back from a simulation software meeting and all the asians were indians.. Senior managers from the simulation company were Indians.. No pakistani's...

Nice try but not even close.
Pakistanis in UK are from Azad Kashmir (Mirpur) & Northern Punjab (Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujjar Khan). They were essentially villagers who migrated to work blue collar jobs. Comparing them with Indian business class migrants like Gujratis is like comparing apples and oranges.
If you look at places like Canada where immigrant populations are much more comparable, you won’t find very much difference between academic performance between Indians and Pakistanis. In fact I would guess that Pakistanis out preform Indians here with the majority Indian group being Sikhs.
I would also doubt that the the 0.15:1 ratio (150 mill to 1 bill) of Indians to Pakistanis holds true in Canadian Uni grad school. I suspect at most there might be 3 Indians to 1 Pakistani. And there are way more Chinese compared to either group.

Well I am not pointing to anyone dear. I am not saying this for only UK or US. This thing is quiet true in whole Europe. You will find same situation in France, Dutch and even Belgium. Muslim immigrants not only from North African countries, Alzeria,Morrocco, and even from Pakistan ,Bangladesh are lives in absolute dire situation. Only because of their economic condition now we are seeing higher backlash/Riots in all Europe against Muslims.
As someone in this forum already said that main reason for less Muslim post grad and almost zero PHD's in EU is home environment provided by parents.

And it is clear to me that you do not understand my reply (perhaps due to your Indian grammar first call center English).
The Muslim immigrants in Europe are people of blue collar origin and do not have family histories of higher education. Thus it should not be expected that they excel in school and have a higher economic standing in relation to other communities. Certainly discriminatory practices in countries like France don’t help.
My retort to you is; This situation is reversed in North America where quite often you will find Muslim immigrants who did not immigrate as laborers. Their children will often do much better in “school” and have a higher economic standing compared to other communities. Comparing Pakistanis to Indians in school is a vast over simplification. For example, if you compare the Indian community in Toronto (mostly Sikhs who immigrate as blue collar workers) with the Pakistani community (mostly the children of Gulf Origin Pakistani professionals) you will find that Pakistanis drastically out perform Indians. I guarantee you would find a similar situation in Vancouver. Obviously the reverse is true in the UK. My point is that comparisons cannot be made with generalities like Pakistani vs Indians in school. Family standing upon immigration and reason for immigration drastically effects any such findings.

.I am quiet agree with you.But you are talking about Canada only and I am talking about bigger Picture (Whole EU,UK,US and even Singpore).Yes it is true that I have not any hand on experience with Canada. But I can say this for US and EU because I have a good experience of years of those countries.
Please see US records you can easily understand More then 30% Pakistanis are still living below Poverty line . Average Family income of Indian Immigrants are 30% higher then US national average and around two times of average income of pakistani immigrants.For more information please visit :
