Indians praised, Pakistani's not

Isnt this a surprise. Aamir sohail says that Pakistan has an outside chance, but if we all think correctly, 327 in 90 overs with 9 wickets in hand is not a tough target. For god’s sake, teams these days get 300 consistently in 50 overs of a one day chasing, so why not 327 with 40 more overs to spare? And why is it that we are all praising Rahul Dravid Rahul Dravid. I felt so bad for Younis Khan after his 147. The entire indian crowd was ignorant, and did not appreciate his innings. If this was Pakistan, and Tendulkar got 147, he would have been given a standing O. I am very disappointed with the Indian crowds. They have the right to cheer for their team as much as they want, but also should respect the talents of our players. And to add on, commentators like Rameez and Ammir sohail should be banned for even representing Pakistan as commentators. They bounce on Afridi who scored 59 runs in such a pressure situation because he played one bad shot. Yet, did not say a word when Ganguly, Sehwag, or Gambhir were cleaned out by our bowlers. The commentators have got to have some respect for these Pakistani players. They are playing their heart out, and as of this point, no team in this match is ahead. In fact, if anyone, I think Pakistan has a better chance of winning than India does. Getting 9 wickets in 1 day is much harder than scoring 327 in 90 overs. If even 1 pakistan goes on to make over 100, pakistan should be in good line for a win. GOOD LUCK Pakistan. Lets make all us at home in Pakistan and in other parts be proud of you!

Re: Indians praised, Pakistani's not

^ dude - don't generalize the Indian crowds just yet... in Mohali, the crowd demonstrated much better sportsmanship... our runs were cheered, Danny, Razzler & Akmal were all acknowledged.

The Calcutta crowd has always been uncouth compared to anywhere else that I have seen.

Secondly, I dunno what part of the commentary you listened to, but Ramiz in my opinion is a great commentator... he is very unbiased and gives credit where its due. Dravid absolutely deserved every word of praise... if you followed his two innings, you'd have seen that he played with utter lure and very sensibly. Secondly, he's equalled a couple of records and that's why he was being recognized for it.

Yes, overall our team has done a "reasonabe" job with what they had... and I wish them the very best and am praying for a miracle myself... but lets not be parsimonious in our discussions and give credit where its due.

Re: Indians praised, Pakistani's not

i dont know about the crowd, but the indian commentators suck. it gets quite unbearable with manjrekar talking all the time about "tayndoolkar" and praising ganguly. why cant they have some non desi commentators, and have just one indian and one pakistani commentator?

Re: Indians praised, Pakistani’s not

Sanjay has improved by leaps & bounds… he used to drive me nuts until last year’s India/Pak series.

Re: Indians praised, Pakistani's not

I think all 4 do an okayish job- Amir, Rameez, Ravi and Sanjay. From Pak side I dunno who else can do a better job in engrish commentary and analysis. These 4 seem to get along fine and there is some chemistry there too :D

Re: Indians praised, Pakistani's not

enough about the calcutta crowd. They are the best fans in india. They want to see their team win and if they do everything possible to make life a living hell for the visiting team. What hurt me more than the series defeat in pak last year was the gaddari of pak fans. I hated it when they stood up and cheered as india put its boot up our ass. I lost all respect for pakistani "fans" after that. I am not saying one should throw bottles or invade the pitch like the calcutta and shiv sena ass-holes. But I don't find it offensive when the opposing fans don't cheer for us or throws verbal abuse at us.

Re: Indians praised, Pakistani's not

LOL, yesterday there was pin-drop silence in the crowd when afridi was hitting pathan for 4s and 6s. they only cheered when he reached his 50 - i guess they had to then :D

Re: Indians praised, Pakistani's not

I am not discounting any thing Dravid has done. In my opinion, he is one of the best batsman in the world. Yes, fans should make life hell for the other team, but they should also acknowledge the "visiting" team for their efforts. And of the four commentators, I think Aamir Sohail has always been the worst. It bothered me so much when after the day's play he said Pakistan has an outside chance in this match. lets see what happens tomorrow adn then we'll see what aamir says.

Re: Indians praised, Pakistani's not

^ i think aamir was just trying to please his buddy sanjay with that "outside chance" comment. :D

Re: Indians praised, Pakistani's not

Enough of this India-Pak cricket dosti-wosti bull !!

And like someone said above.....stop blaming the Calcutta fans.... Calcutta is the only place in the subcontinent where people can hold a procession in support of MARADONA (when Maradona was accused of drugs use). Think about it...these guys are extreme sports lovers and it goes beyond cricket.

Have you seen/heard of the behavior of English Football fans !!

Re: Indians praised, Pakistani's not

Also where else in the world would you see 30-40 thousand people in the stadium for a test match. When India toured Pak last year, there were perhaps 10 people inlcluding the groundsmen in the stadium. And yes they gave a grand standing ovation to Sehwag when he scored the triple century......so well-behaved fans !!

Re: Indians praised, Pakistani’s not

While I think it is upto the Calcutta crowd how they wish to behave and as far as I can remember they are very biased, but to try and justify their behaviour with the reception the Indian team got by pointing out the small number of crowds during test matches totally ignores the capacity crowds during the ODI’s when the Indians did receive standing ovation. When the Calcutta crowd does that, thanwe can talk.

Re: Indians praised, Pakistani’s not

Yeah there is a little bit TCS service by Paki commentrators, ofcourse their employer is Mighty Indian broadcasting giant. But still they did justice given that they have to please both sides of audiances.

Also I don’t think Sanjay and Ravi did any extraordinary butt-covering for India. They did praise Sami, Kaneria and Afridi. However I was suprised with the production lousiness when Dravid was clean LBW from every angle and Bucknor gulpped it, they didn’t show those blue stripes on the pitch projecting the line of the stumps. They showed that replay atleast three times, Sanjay was also saying that Dravid got lucky on this one as the ball was pitched in the middle stump, but the production team didn’t show those blue stripes at all.

hota hai hota hai, thora bohat favour tou chalta hai.

Good thing is WE ARE PLAYING ONCE AGAIN, unlike 90s. But the timing is not in our favour. When we had 2Ws, Inzi and Anwar in the team, we hardly played tests with India in 90s. Now we are struggling against quality sides like BD, ZIMBZ and NZ in our rebuilding phase and India agreed to play. wah ray qismat!

Re: Indians praised, Pakistani’s not

Does anyone remember the standing ovation Pakistan got in Chennai for winning a test a few years back. The same test in which Sachin Tendulkar got out a few runs before a possible victory. Ehsan-faraamoush Pakistanis :smack:

Re: Indians praised, Pakistani’s not

^^ sir standing ovation is not a ehsaan on Pakistan :hehe: you probably wanted to say na-qadray (ungrateful) log :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Indians praised, Pakistani's not

Too much is being made out of appreciation for the opposition team players.

Home crowds are biased - always....everywhere in the world.....in every sports. Even the Australians had some stuff thrown at them from the stands during their current NZ tour.

Last year when the Japanese soccer team visited China for a match, it was marred by such ill-temper in the stands against the Japanese....that the Calcutta crowds would seem well-behaved....if you witnessed that match.

It is simple...the more the passion for the game...the more chances of emotions...and hence bad behavior....and Calcuttans are highly passionate about the game....Even domestic soccer matches in Calcutta have crowd control issues sometimes...

Talking about the behavior of Pak fans during last year's one-day series against India, lets not forget that a lot of Indo-Pak friendship hype preceded the series. So the audience put up their best behavior (just like the Madras crowd did when they gave standing ovation to Pak after they won a cliff-hanger of a test match against India at the start of their last tour).

btw, I have seen Indian flags being burnt in the stands in Pak during hockey matches involving India.....so there u go.

Re: Indians praised, Pakistani's not

Pakistani fans lost much of respect in my book when they hooted Pakistani players and cheered India. It's one thing to cheer the opposition but quite another to call our own players "aloo" and "vaat lag gayee", etc etc. Especially after Inzi played such a crucial knock in the Karachi ODI but he didn't seem to be getting much respect. It's quite fine to cheer for the Indians and make them feel welcome, but not at our own players' expense.

Re: Indians praised, Pakistani’s not

Oops my bad

Re: Indians praised, Pakistani’s not

Well…that part I was not aware of.
