I borught this up with my dad when I was younger, that indians and pakis r the same, we have the same culture, except for religion. And my dad said, religion is the biggest difference and the one that matters most... they are hindu/sikh, we are muslims... culturally we might be similar, coz pakistan does have a lotta hindu/indian cultural aspects but in religion, we are very very very different..

For starters, Indian Muslims are more tolerant of other religions than Muslims elsewhere.

I don’t want to generalize here but I have noticed that they tend to be more close to hindu culture due to their closeness with hindus in their daily lives. Also they are more involved in Bidah like going to mazaar and shrines. Such bidah practices are nothing but a strong influence of hindu religious practices. Also they hate Pakistan more than we hate India.

Yes more similar then dis-similar.......but that dis-similarity out weighs everything i guess....

The junoon of "who (religion) would RULE the area,would always play a part in the division of Sub-continent".....

Muslims of South Asia(let's say only being represented by Pakistanis,as "presumed" by most Pakistanis)have ruled the subcontinent for centuries,atleast 5 or 6 to be exact....& they(Pakistani Muslims)can't forsee a Hindu majority Culture/Government ruling them(Hence the purpose of Pakistan)...if you would assimiliate the total number of all Muslims in the South Asia....they would stand around about 450 million(against 800 Million Hindus,still a 1:2 Ratio)...This 1:2 Ratio was once the ruling party of India....Now you can find The muslim rule only in Pakistan/Bangladesh....with Indian Muslims ofcourse hanging in a Lingo(they have nothing but to accept the authority of Hindu majority ...so much so for the secularism,we are talking about the daily life here not the govt. as such right).....

The day India is again ruled by the Muslims (Of India ofcourse)...Pakistan would be even more similar to India(forgetting even religious differences etc)...i can bet you on that....

So if Pakistan, India and Bangladesh had stayed together, what would have been the percentage of Muslims in today's akhund Bharat? What would have been the Percentage of all Minorities in India?

I think the minorities would have been much stronger than hindus and India would probably have been a different country than what it is with the current hindu population totally dominating the scene. Hindutva fanatics should be happy that we are not together.

my ancestors killed/got killed to be called pakistanis, so there must have been some big differences between being an indians and a pakistani!

Some Interesting topic...

Nopes i disagree that Hindus and Muslims are same...There are some huge differences in between...

The strongest is for sure Religion ..Religion has several definitions but one which fits in here is that Religion brings a sense,method and some boundries to every day life which makes the first strong difference.
Culture might have similarities but not altogether the same...Indians do have different cultures North, South, East and West...Bangladesh is pretty much influenced with Eastern culture of India..Southern states are pretty much close to Sri Lankan culture or other way round...Bengal in india and Bangladesh speaks the same language so does Sri Lanke and Tamil Nado, Punjab(India) speaks the same as in Punjab (Pakistan)...For Pakistan the only culture which is pretty much same is up North or specially the places where Muslims are in majority.... Delhi, UP, Bombay,Punjab, Haiderabad and Bhopal have some strong resemblence with our culture or we are resembled like them, still the similarities are there but not in different.
The above states i mentioned have one common thing, They all are heavy populated areas with Muslims where people understands URDU rather then only Hindi.
Now lets come back to the original point so what the similiarities in culture we have..Yes we do have some and they are there for some reasons but differences are huge from Valima to Nihaari (you would only hear about Nihaari in Dehli or might be Haiderabad), from Abbu, abba to Pitta jee, Music Concerts ( in Pakistan) to Dance clubs in India, Hajj to Ganga ashnan, from Aap to Tu, from Beef to Gaao Mata, From meat lovers to Vegetarians , Biddah to Akber's Islam and there are a lot whcih we can dig in and count one by one.
On the other side there are similarities, we are always divided on the basis of language, we both have corrupt politicians, we both had fudal sysem (Pakistan still does), 1/3 of india understands Urdu and we have some common words in Hindi and Urdu, we both have Mehndi tradtions in Shaadi, both are fighting for Kashmir and surely few more but before developing any thought, u should visit India. The way they project India in movies or Hindi channels, this is not the way India is, beleive me.
In the last ,I won't go into the debate like what would happen if India, Pakistan and Bangladesh would have stayed together, then muslims might be more powerful (thats all the time i hear from Indian Muslims),..I used "might be" more powerful but not for sure...I strongly support formation of Pakistan and have strong reasons to negate the above scenario but this thread might not be the right one to discuss that.

Note :
I could be wrong at some places bcoz most of the above information is grasped from Books, people from India and some historical facts.

Malhot I agree with you. In some ways we are more similar to the indians than other muslim states for example indonesian muslims. We are very similar and I hope the peace process between the two countries carries on

Pakistanis are insecure whenever this topic is discussed. They can copy paste stuff in defense instantaneously ! here is the truth

Pakistan and india have lots of similarities :

Both are poor countries
majorty of population is smelly and dirty
major cities of both countries are polluted (except Pakistan has less # of major cities)
both have equal ratio of religious idiots
Both countries send lots of imigrants to other countries
politician on both sides are equally corrupt

and difference
Pakistanis alway kick a$$es of indian, in every game they play together

Hay Guyz I am here in delhi .. But actually belongs to separate country that is KASHMIR ( know as INDIA OCCUPIED KASHMIR for rest of world ) .. these days I am here for some medical checkup and educational puposes. GUYZ there is huge difference between Hindus and muslims not only between pakiz and indiz ,.. but among the muslims and hindus of india herself. GUYZ religion is not only difference there are many more reason. MY GOD here sex is traded like cold drinks.. And the way india hindu girls dresses is totally opposite the way pakis do. Here a guy starts taking liquor just at the age 12 onwards ...use to have sex at the age 15 onwards . wives are no way honest to their husbands .. they feel pleasure and high repute in having xtra marital affairs .. GUYZ IT IS HELL HERE...

U know even few elite and so called modern muslim societies are also following the footprints of INDIA HINDUS.

. There is no word like honesty , help or moral and ethical values.. they are lost in sex and liquor and unfortunately casting their ugly and dark shadow on muslim youths.

While is Kashmir ( under India punishment) is much better than anything. There is no way for liquor or bad acts . One can't even find any cinema or channels or media which promotes illegal things ..
