Why are Indians so embarrassed about their success stories? Why do they gloat about their failures?
Indians at the national level remain hopeless at public relations. Indians like to talk about national failures, not successes. What do you’ll think?

It's in the Indian culture not to gloat about your success - it's considered rude, boastful and bombastic. If you are successful, it's up to others to point this out, and up to you to be very humble about it.
Many take this so far as to point out their own flaws, instead of pointing out there strong points.
On the other hand, in western culture, it's not considered to be so negative to blow your own trumpet and sing your own praises.
durango, where's the link.

Indians hopeless? Look at Pakistanis! We show off at every oppurtunity. We should be ashamed. We should follow in their footsteps.
follow their foot steps... naaaa i dont think so
we are better off without them.. why dont we follow the Prophet (pbuh) foot steps
what success? j/k.
BIB is right, we need not follow in anyone’s footsteps. As Pakistanis we’re #1 to start with, no need to gloat about successes or failures.

Well that kind of proves hskhan's point....
Nothing wrong with showing off or being humble. Its all part of life. Just be sure you are able to back it up too. :)

I am guessing you are referring to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). If so - he said showing off is a sin. Thus you agree with my point.

showing off is not the same thing as good PR. there are people who show off but are good at PR, those that do and are bad at PR, same goes for people who are very humble, they could be good or bad at PR.
I recall growing up, all ppl would sit around and really talk up their kids and my parents never really did that. I asked them later why they never did so and they said, why should we? we dont need to impress them with your achievements or awards, thats for you to be proud of your accomplishments, and we are proud of you. Made sense to me.
Fradz, you are such a showoff!
When I brought home my results and got 42/100, Mom would ask what happened to the remaining 58, and I used to tell her that that was distributed amongst the rest of the class. She believed me, and she was proud of my accomplishments.
I am proud to have parents who never questioned my honesty.
dang it, i am the most humble and modest person i have ever met or known !!!
