Are Indians and Pakistanis ethnically the same people. or are they mix. Please discuss.

well.. depends on province. sindh and wester punjab in pakistan have similar ethnicity and indo-european language as india. baluch could be similar to iranians and and pathans to afghans. in short, eastern pak is more like india and western pak like central asia.

No i mean to say how about those people who invaded parts of India and made kingdoms and stuff. And after Independence came to pakistan.

You are first assuming that all Indians are ethnically the same people and so are Pakistanis. This is essentially a flawed line of thinking.

thanks for the info.

in india drvidian and dravidian-aryan mixture
predominates compared to pakistan. only dravidian language that survives is brahui
in baluchistan.

reza khan,

Maybe you can first explain how do you classify ethnic groups?

Based on their skin color? Facial features? Language? Culture? Religion or the modern day nationalistic ideals? That will put your question in the right perspective!

Well in that case the answer is quiet simple.
All Pakistanis are ethnically not the same people, nor are the Indians. Some Pakistanis and some Indians may come from the same ethnic groups while others don't. I can’t see how anyone could disagree with this conclusion.

historically speaking hindus migirated from north to south and mixed with local people
and local population abdorbed the migrants.
there is great deal of mixture took place
in india rather than pakistan and north of pakistan.

III. PopulationPrint section

The ethnological background of the population of Pakistan is extremely varied, largely because the country lies in an area that was invaded repeatedly during its long history. The people come from ethnic stocks such as the Dravidian, Indo-Aryan, Greek, Scythian, Hun, Arab, Mongol, Persian, and Afghan.
