Bichendri Pal - Ist Indian woman to climb on Mount Everest
Kalpna Chawla - Ist Indian woman on the space.

Arundhati Roy, Megasesay Prize winner for her novel ‘The world of small things’.
Nirmal Chawla - Ist Lady Indian piolet participated in any war (Kargil), she was flying ‘Chetak’ India’s best fighter Chopper.
Malleshwari Devi - Winner of only silver medal winner in Olympic’2000 80.Kg weight category in Weight Lifting.

others are Aish, Sushmita, Manpreet Barar, Diana Haden, LaraDutta, Yukta Mukhi are also a fews names whom india can pride of.

This guy gives Nobel at drop of the hat. Hattangadi did not even get Oscars, if I remember right. I think there was a indian woman who won Oscars for costumes in Gandhi movie.
