Re: Indian Wax Museum

we called it "Khanta Manaiya"...my uncle who wrote story and dialogues for the legendary movie "chaudhviiN kaa chaand" was also a hazal go shaa'ir...he used to read his hazal [mazaaHiyah shaa'irii] in our annual village musha'ira at the end...around 3 O'clock in the morning...a large number of illiterate tabqa used to come to listen to his funny poetry because he said his kalaam in the local dehaatii language [Poorbii]...they seemed to enjoy it...i didn'rt see all this because i wasn't of age to understand anything...i'm told by my elders.

here is one such she'r on this play thing called "khanta manaiya":
**
TiDDahe 'Aasik par chaRh baiTheN "khantaa manaiyaa"
dhuRoo dhuRoo kaa kareN, khatra to mar jaane meN hai**

TiDDahe = skeletal
'Ashiq = **gaaoN ke ek bahot hii lambe aur bahot hii duble patle shaKhs kaa maam
**dhuRoo dhuRoo
= jab bachche ko oopar uThaate haiN to yeh alfaaz kahte haiN...means shaadi par jo trumpet bajtaa hai uskii aawaaz
*kaa *= kia

yeh musha'ira misr'a taraH par huaa kartaa thaa [taraHii mushaa'ira] ... uss saal misr'a taraH thii:

Vo bhii thoRii sii jo in aaNkhon ke paimaane meN hai

yeh liHaaf nahiiN hai...chaarpaaiyoN par bichaane waalaa toshak [gadda] hai...liHaaf hotaa to iskaa Khol [shell] bahot achche material kaa hotaa aur kaafii rangeen aur printed hotaa...taag [stitches] bhii door door hotii.
