we called it “Khanta Manaiya”…my uncle who wrote story and dialogues for the legendary movie “chaudhviiN kaa chaand” was also a hazal go shaa’ir…he used to read his hazal [mazaaHiyah shaa’irii] in our annual village musha’ira at the end…around 3 O’clock in the morning…a large number of illiterate tabqa used to come to listen to his funny poetry because he said his kalaam in the local dehaatii language [Poorbii]…they seemed to enjoy it…i didn’rt see all this because i wasn’t of age to understand anything…i’m told by my elders.
here is one such she’r on this play thing called “khanta manaiya”:

TiDDahe 'Aasik par chaRh baiTheN “khantaa manaiyaa”
dhuRoo dhuRoo kaa kareN, khatra to mar jaane meN hai**
TiDDahe = skeletal
**'Ashiq = **gaaoN ke ek bahot hii lambe aur bahot hii duble patle shaKhs kaa maam dhuRoo dhuRoo = jab bachche ko oopar uThaate haiN to yeh alfaaz kahte haiN…means shaadi par jo trumpet bajtaa hai uskii aawaaz
**kaa **= kia
yeh musha’ira misr’a taraH par huaa kartaa thaa [taraHii mushaa’ira] … uss saal misr’a taraH thii:
Vo bhii thoRii sii jo in aaNkhon ke paimaane meN hai
yeh liHaaf nahiiN hai…chaarpaaiyoN par bichaane waalaa toshak [gadda] hai…liHaaf hotaa to iskaa Khol [shell] bahot achche material kaa hotaa aur kaafii rangeen aur printed hotaa…taag [stitches] bhii door door hotii.
