Ya whatever, doesn’t this so called ulema council have better things to do? I mean can’t they spread the message of Islam in its true spirit both by their words and act, and lt these kind of authors analyzed by the people.
other option is:
Quran says do not spread the bad things/words/actions by repeating them, the ulemas action is totally against it, they do exactly the same, this make me think about their capabilities, and thats y i asked above question.
to me this is an act by ulemas just o gain cheap popularity. nothing more. but i still think Rushdie did an evil by writing those things and i believe the so called leaders of followers of Islam did even bad by spreading it and giving it the fame it never deserved at first place.

Our dearest MF hussain has done t he same thing. he drawed naked pictures of hindu gods. There were few protest against him but 100000 times lower level than danish cartoon incident.
Responsible for the danish cartoons are now jailed by law and order and not murdered after a fatwa. You see, even our voice is been heard more over. Time is changing.
Whatever MF Hussain has done is no better...so you can not justify one for another.

Godrej has a right to invite anybody and the AIUC leader has a right to call for boycott of Godrej products. I am just surprised that the latter hasn't realized how many muslims work in Godrej businesses.
As somebody pointed out, the Satanic Verses would have been long forgotten as a c grade work long ago but for the hue and cry created by the fundamentalists. I tried reading it but found it badly written, lacking any literary value and frankly a waste of time. So stopped after about 30%.
Partially agree on that. You are very right when you say It is c grade work and It is a C grade work indeed! But remember, Khomaini was all Evil at that time and Israel needed anything to propagade that he devils advocate. Thus the positive projection by media as a result all the attention and hype on Rushdie 's one liners collection with blasphemic content, made him shake hands with superstars and celebrities of all kind. And let us know who is in controll of all media ever since :)

I stated: For us muslims It is a big deal If rushdie alike morons are dealt as heros by insults on Islam. On response to you, when you said It's no big deal for a hindu If similiar blasphemic incidents would be directed towards hinduism in this way or another (example MF Hussain).

^We care, we Muslims should care. We have been quite for as long as ever and when we fight against blasphemy It is our right. If you have no problem, so be It. But some one who is being declared as VVIP by the whole world by insulting us, is needed to be opposed. Otherwise other will follow and do the same and be declared as heros as well.
Again, no one Is interested in fatwas and murder attempts. We need voices to be heard!!

Someone criticizes Islam. The Islamic world declares a death sentence on him. He stands up to that by continuing to preach what he wrote. The west takes notice as how this man is standing up for the freedom of speech to say what he wants under death threats and then rewards him for his brave behaviour.
That irritates the Islamic World even more.
It would have been better to either ignore him saying what Rushdie writes does not concern us as our Faith is too strong to be challenged by someone like him or debate him in a forum.

If you make good analysis then not everything we say or we did in past is due to what is happening now. We are not that evil, which people made you to belief. THere are certainly a lot of factors too, which are 90% rejected by labeling them conspiracies.
I'm not even sure who gave you the impression that your ancestors who migrated to Kashmir were Jews. Maybe this impact has changed facts in your life.

After doing some research I finally found that Kashmiri Butt people are originally from Iran who converted to Islam and fled to Kashmir.
Salman Rushdie was already a literally figure before the Satanic Verses.
Instead of challenging him to a debate, the Iranians issued a fatwa against him.
He was made VIP because due to the death threats against him which if you look at the murder of Van Goug in Holland is a very real danger.
Thats why Irshad Manji has bullet proof windows in her apartment building.

Again, you are not on spot! I said I dont know who made you believe they were Persian Jews. They were parsi from what I know. There might be a small a very small minority, who might migrated with the parsis, but I doubt Butts are to be believes as Jews in past. You are right there. He was a well known literally figure actually. He had is first ever success in the beginning of 1980s and satanic verses were published somewhere late 80s (dont remember the date).
But point Is even If Khomaini did issue a fatwa on Rushdi, the rest of the arab world opposed Khomaini's actions and made the fatwa illegal. Do you know that fact?!
So how can you then blame all muslims for making him VVIP, when major part of it denounced the very reason, who many still claim made him the celebrity. Furthermore dont be blinded If you only believe Fatwas and OBLs video tapes can influence peoples mind. It might work in the US of A (more on non muslims than muslims), but It has hardly any impact on non-muslims/muslims in Europe (excluding England).
