Indian tour of Pak

^ This sounds more like the cricket we play during a weekend family picnic. Batsmen "retire" and other batsmen keep on coming back. All for a good time, I'd say. :-)

sadly it wasn't a family picnic, but a serious practice session to prepare for the Pak trip

My prediction is that we'll lose the first match and be on the back foot for the rest of the series. The batsmen will try to dominate the bowlers and fall like nine pins. Sachin has already started saying 'kamar mein kuch lachak aa gayi'

ohh..dun lose hope karina.... u knwo what happens when our U19 cricket team was leaving for the worldcup.... our local club team defeated em in a serious practice session.. and i was like if our team cant win against the local club team how are they gonna beat other teams in WC.... and now u see the result...

i m sure that he will play an outstanding inning against us..just like he did in WC... :S

^Inshallah bhi kehdo..bulkay do rakat namaz bhi man lo..

Aray aisi uth patan batain nahee kartay hein..Let us hope his slump continues

Sachin has already started saying ‘kamar mein kuch lachak aa gayi’

i really hope that he’d be out in first over… insahllah.. but its not that easy na… :frowning:

Pakistan puts on special trains for Indian cricket series](Yahoo is part of the Yahoo family of brands.)

ISLAMABAD (AFP) - Pakistan will run two additional cross-border train services from India to bring nearly 8,000 cricket fans for this month’s historic cricket series between the two rivals, officials said.

Pakistan Railways official Iqbal Khatri said the extra services would link the Pakistani city of Lahore and the northern Indian town of Attari.

“We expect both the trains to arrive in Lahore full of Indian cricket fans,” Khatri said.

Road transport officials have yet to decide on how many more buses will be put on to ferry Indian cricket fans from its land border crossing at Wagah, following a request from the Indian government.

“There are a number of proposals being discussed but nothing is finalised yet,” Malik Habib, managing director Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), told AFP.

PTDC and India’s Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has run a bus service between Lahore and New Delhi twice a week since July last year.

The 535-kilometre (330-mile) journey from New Delhi to Lahore takes approximately 14 hours, crossing into Pakistani territory at the Wagah border in western Punjab state.

The highly popular bus service was begun in 1999 but was suspended soon after a militant attack on India’s parliament in December 2001.

It was resumed in July last year following a thaw in relations.

We’re not scared of “Rawalpindi Express” says Indian skipper Ganguly](Yahoo is part of the Yahoo family of brands.)

CALCUTTA (AFP) - Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly said his team was not worried at the prospect of facing speedster Shoaib Akhtar on their upcoming tour of Pakistan.

“We are not worried about Shoaib and feel the pressure is on him since he is leading the attack against India for the first time,” Ganguly told reporters at the end of a three-day training camp here on Tuesday.

Akhtar, known as the “Rawalpindi Express”, is feared by batsmen the world over but Ganguly said the speed demon would have his work cut out trying to single-handedly rip through India’s in-form batting line-up.

“With Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis not around any more, things will be different for him,” said Ganguly as the team prepared to embark on their first full tour of Pakistan in almost 15 years.

India, who last played a Test series in Pakistan in 1989 but made a week-long tour in 1997 for three one-day internationals, are due to play five one-dayers and three Tests across the border.

Ganguly conceded that India’s own bowling attack for the one-dayers looked depleted in the absence of injured seamer Ajit Agarkar and spinners Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh.

“It’s a good opportunity for other bowlers to show their capability and a challenge for me to handle them well,” said Ganguly.

"They have good talent and should come through like Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Mohammad Kaif and Zaheer Khan have proved themselves in the past.

Zaheer and Ashish Nehra are the only experienced bowlers in the one-day side which also has other left-armer Irfan Pathan, seamer Laxmipathy Balaji and left-arm spinner Murali Kartik apart from the all-rounders.

Kumble and Agarkar are, however, expected to join the team for the Tests.

Ganguly said the inexperienced bowling attack would put into use some invaluable tips imparted by former captain Kapil Dev.

“Kapil helped us out during this short camp, not trying to rectify actions or technique but in attitude and thought process,” said Ganguly, who led India to the World Cup final last year.

The Indian captain said his team was well-equipped to cope with the pressure on their 40-day tour.

“International cricket is all about pressure and seeing the India-Pakistan scenario, additional pressure is only to be expected,” he said.

“Some people consider us favourites for the series, which is a good sign for Indian cricket.”

Indian coach John Wright felt it was a nothing-to-lose situation and a good opportunity for the players to prove their mettle once again.

“We are going to enjoy the tour and relish challenges,” said the former New Zealand Test player. “If you don’t play good cricket you lose and one should remember that we are the touring side.”

The one-day series gets underway in Karachi on March 13. The other matches will be held in Rawalpindi (March 16), Peshawar (March 19) and two day-night matches in Lahore on March 21 and 23.

The one-dayers will be followed by a three-match Test series starting at Multan on March 28.

The Indian team is due to meet Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and also attend briefings by security agencies and the foreign office before their departure for Lahore on Wednesday.

We need to get the classsy Indian openers out soon. I hope Shoaib and Sami can hold their nerves especially Sami as he seems to struggle after every good performance. Yasir and Imran look good together. If Afridi doesn't perform in the first two ODI I hope to never see him again playing cricket for Pakistan. Yasir Hameed needs to play like he did against NZ in Pak and we'll be OK. Motto Inzi needs to score runs everywhere, not just in Multan. If our batting clicks and Shaoib gets the ball swinging we should be able to win at least 3 one day matches.

.

I have a gutt feeling that Afridi will beat the hell out of Zaheer and Phattan.

More like a tribal war b/w these khochas :hehe:

inshallah :jhanda:

If we can get to 40th over with razzler, malik, and afridi’s wicket intact then god help the indian bowlers. All three of these players can tear the skin off the ball. I still have fond memory of maliks 40 ball 80 during the recent SA series.

If we get into 40th over with either of Sehwag,Yuvrah,Sachin,Ganguly intact then God bless pakistani bowlers.

But then its a big IF.Chances of my case happening is more than yours. :D

:rotfl:

hey, if you think ashish and zaheer is better than shoaib and sami than you just continue to day dream. I certainly will not wake you up.

somehow i don’t think razzler and co. are loosing any sleep over “devastatingly (sp) fast” bowling of ashish. :rotfl:

Read My Lips: Afridi is not gonna do diddly squat against India. Its gonna be Hameed and Youhana that will make all the difference. Haven't you all seen how bad this Afridi guy sux. Only in his first match he did Ok. His bowling sux bad too. I can't forget how Symonds took him apart in the world cup match. All of us should be upset about Imran Nazir not being selected as he is in great form recently and is not a "tukka" like Afridi.
