I think Karachi and Peshawer should get test Matches, not ODI....Test match could end up in a draw...:)

Most welcome :roman:

I hope Pakistan whitewash the Indians, and Congress whitewashes the BJP. :rotfl:

^^ That is the plan, isnt it?? :D

excellent points by Saeed. as a Pak fan, the one Indian batsman who always worries me is Ganguly. I’ve seen him score at least 2-3 big match-winning centuries against us. Also, the point about the teams lacking character and whoever has the momentum winning it all is very true.

I wish Saeed would get involved with Pak cricket. he’d be very good in any kind of post from coaching to administration since he’s actually educated. very decent and nice guy.

`We fear Sourav the most’ – Anwar

Saeed Anwar has said that reverse swing will be a big threat for the Indian batsmen on the forthcoming tour of Pakistan. He has also implied, and juicy controversy will surely follow this, that Sachin Tendulkar is a spent force, while saying that Sourav Ganguly is the biggest threat among the Indian batsman.

Anwar said that the Indian batsmen were most at threat not from the new ball, but from the reverse swing that Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Sami were capable of producing. Speaking to The Times of India, Anwar said that a late burst by those two bowlers could tear the heart out of the Indian batting. He had some tips for the batsmen on how to play them.

“Start with seeing what side the shine of the ball is. Then, right-handers should take middle-stump guard. That will help them [in] playing the ball on the leg side with its late inswing. Even otherwise, they should play it as if they are playing inswing. Then, try and see the ball early and play it late. For that, you need a good eye, which you can develop by training hard.”

Anwar then shifted his attention to the batsmen themselves, implying that Tendulkar was past his best, while praising VVS Laxman and Ganguly. “Laxman was superb in Australia,” said Anwar. “Sachin is great in the mind but 10-12 years of international cricket is [sic] catching up. Rahul Dravid has always played better than Sachin abroad. Sachin hasn’t won much for India against us and we know that.”

“Actually,” Anwar revealed, **“Sourav Ganguly is the best bet for the Indians. He has performed better than Sachin and Rahul against us. We fear him the most.” **

Anwar also revealed how highly he thought of the two sides when he said,** “I think the first Test will be crucial as neither team has the character to bounce back.** India squandered [the] advantage against Australia while Pakistan are light on experience.”

Anwar continued: “It all depends on who absorbs pressure better. The recent contests have been one-sided both in Test[s] and one-dayers, except for the Chennai Test in 1998-99. I think this series should be no different.”

Anwar then revealed what goes on in a Pakistan dressing room before a game against India. “They are quite tense and different,” he said. “Everybody is told that any performance against India can make or break their careers. We saw what happened to Waqar Younis and Aaqib Javed after they suffered at the hands of Ajay Jadeja during the 1996 World Cup quarter-final in Bangalore.”

So what was the solution for this tension? “We just tell each other to play without worrying,” said Anwar. “I know this is difficult, but then, that’s the key.”

Anwar ended on a note of warm advice for the Indians. “Indians should play with heart and not with brain,” he suggested. “Cricket dil ka khel hai, deemag ro sir dird honay se kaam karna band kar deta hai. [Cricket is a game of the heart, the brain stops working when one gets a headache.]”

nah..he's too soft a person to handle Pakistan cricket..especially administration.

Isn’t this exactly what Miandad was worried abt, and Wasim said he wont share with the Indians? Saeed is nice..too nice infact.

Indian tour to Pakistan delayed by a week

 I wonder if there was such drama when we visited them in 99?

According to sources in the Pakistan Cricket Board, the first Test will begin in Lahore on March 8. The second Test on March 16 and the third and final one on March 24.
The One-dayers will begin after just a day’s gap on March 30. The remaining four games will be played on April 1, 3, 5 and 7..

Times of India’s Report

Alright!

If that’s the case, then it won’t hit into my final exam schedule too badly. Woo hoo. :smokin2:

What is the BS about playing Reverse swing? I was wondering what would pakistani score card look like if they didnt know how to play reverse swing. With the knowledge they are so pathetic.

Puhleease… Saed Anwar teaching how to play reverse swing to likes ot Sachin & Dravid..Gimme a break.. !!!

India’s fast bowlers are finally up and raring to go

After injuries hampered their tour to Australia, Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra have announced themselves fully fit, and ready to tour Pakistan, in a report by PTI. Dennis Lillee is currently guiding both fast bowlers at the MRF Pace Foundation.

“The advice of Lillee at the nets has made me feel better,” Khan said, "and I am raring to make the trip to Pakistan, if selected.

“He has been of great help to our bowling and this was our routine trip to the foundation. I was not feeling fully comfortable last week. For over two years now, I have been taking Lillee’s advice before every tour.”

Khan found himself out of the Australian tour after a hamstring injury during the first Test at Brisbane. Nehra, too, was affected by an ankle injury that hindered his bowling in Australia, but was confident about his fitness.

“I made a comeback during the tour after being out of action for nearly eight months,” Nehra said. “I am fit now and always make use of Lillee’s visit to fine-tune myself.”

Lillee worked with Khan and Nehra’s run-up after noticing the pressure they exerted on their legs.

“I have advised Zaheer to take fewer steps in his run-up and avoid jumping too high before releasing the ball,” Lillee said. “Nehra needed some changes. He has been asked to be more side-on to avoid putting the load on his legs.”

Three things: First, Saeed shouldn't have done this because the National Coach has reservations about it, even if there was no secret to begin with. To me, Saeed's advice seems deliberate and an attempt to piss off the coach.

Second: I dont see too many Pakistani players getting out to reverse swings. My belief is that they get out mostly in the slips. So there maybe something going on there.

Third: Comparatively, our team's batting is poorer than India but it isn't pathetic. Inexperienced, yes but not pthetic.

PS: Remember the yorker that bowled Sachin in Chinnai test? Maybe Sachin can do with some advice? I dont remember, how did Shoaib bowl out Dravid? Was that bowl a yorker too? Pls refresh my memory.
