the international border is not the LOC…most of the border is open with no demarcation and villagers accidentally cross it all the time. it is a very regular occurrence. i’m surprised you are asking this.

i don’t know if he crossed drunkenly or not. it doesn’t even matter. there are plenty of alternate explanations that don’t involve being a terrorist mastermind of multiple bombings…he could have deliberately crossed as a black market smuggler, cattle thief, or even a spy. i have no idea. but i didn’t ask about your gut feeling on the story of him drunkenly crossing the border…i asked for your gut feeling about whether or not the trial of an “indian spy” for multiple terrorist bombings in pakistan in 1990 is likely to have been credible or likely to have been a fraud. now add his specific case to the analysis - a case without any evidence whatsoever. i would be shocked if you were to honestly believe the conviction is credible but you’re entitled to your opinion.

Surprised the border is so easy to cross, all things considered. And yes, his supporters claim he was nothing more then a drunken farmer who crossed accidentally.

My gut feeling would support your reading of the incidents leading up to it, but for the fact that there have been other confessed spies who have been detained in Pakistan. Whether he was or was not a terrorist, I dont know. But that Indians would want retribution for the freedom movement being waged in occupied Kashmir is not surprising.
