Indian Songs and reality!

ok
thIS TO MEE IS SOO HILARIOUS… Its Indian TV time on cable today so I am watching this song “mera dil lake gahi, Kamo (sp) de ghar..” and its a copy of Abrar’s Billo de ghar. Its hilarious just watching them sing the song with the exact same tune but different lyrics!!!.. I knew there copies of English songs, never saw one of a punjbai one!!

So just before that they were showing one of the songs from the movie “Dil Se” and there is a scene where the girl runs around looking for the hero and finally finds him at the other end of along bridge and runs towards him and hungs hims… So here are some questions that came to mind… assumming if it does ever happen in real life!

  1. If you dont know where your supposed other half is, arent you headed for really serious issues!

  2. I also want to know how many desi girls can actually run for a mile on a wooden bridge while fully clothed with langas. They have a hard enough time walking much less running

  3. and finally… after running (non-stop) for that long, wont you be all out of breath and sweaty and would a guy really wanna give you hug (ok roman you can not answer that question!!!).

Hmmm I guess thats why I dont watch too many indian films… I would be overawed with all the inferences made

… so much better to just watch star trek… at least they dont give the feeling of reality!!

.

No wonder, I rarely watch Sony, Zee, B4U - I find it such utter crap which basically pollutes the minds of people, leading them to believe that love and romance is something which it’s not. It’s absolute garbage which even my parents are addicted to.

Bollywood movies are not that great that we should be rpoud that they are copying or s the Inspired by our songs.

But then again, my friends you should go watch Pakistani movies. They dont even bother changing even the lyrics. And if bollywood movies are not reality based then I dont have words to explain Pakistani movies have to offer.

As for Dil Se. I dont you think you got to watch the whole movie. Dil Se is not a typical Indian movie. It contradicts the fact that Indian occupation of Kashmir is justified and creates a good picture on the attrocities in Kashmir.

And as for Manisha Koiralla (meghna) running on the wooden bridge in her Gharara, Janaab HMCQ that is Shahrukh Khan thinking that she is coming. The songs is just Sharukh Khan imagining!

Many of the hindi film songs arent very original. Music directors like Annu Mallik, Samir Sen - Dilip Sen, Viju Shah, Bappi Lahiri rely heavily on western and pakistani tunes. Some like Annu Mallik openly admit to it, and calls it "inspiration" rather than copying. :)

recently, someone here recommended mehdi hassan songs to me, and i was surprised to find that some of the lyrics had been made into songs in hindi films. of course, mehdi hassan songs were the earlier ones. i guess the same lyricist wrote both songs. i've listened to one vital signs song so far, and i know a very similar hindi film song. i've even heard a tamil film song in the tune of junoon's sayyonee.

that said, looking for reason in a song sequence is really pushing it. most popular hindi movies are blatantly escapist, and the song sequences are all the more so. is that bad? i dont know. if you want reality in films, there are good films made in this genre too, but unfortunately, they dont make it big at the box office. look around and you'll find interesting stuff.

I guess thats what happens when you just watch the songs. I was never saying Bollywood makes great movies, but after Hollywood it is considered by many to be most important center of movie generation, simply becuase of the volume of movies (2 per day!).

I was impressed in that sense that our punjabi music was impressing other people
enough to be copied. Of course the fact that they say nothing about where its copied from is rather sad . but then cant have everything in life.

If pakistanis are not there .... it's really difficult for bollywood and hindi music ..... and INDIA(this name should be there) .. to make any thing good....
Who are these A R Raheman,Jatin-Lalit, Jagjit Singh,Bhupen Hajarika, Kalyanji- Aanadji etc.. they are no more good than a avarage Pakistani folk misician .....

Well everyone agress that bollywood films and music are load of *e, but they are * as the sad, stupid, idiots (mainly girls) people who watch them.
