Hey does any one know how to make Gobi manchurian- a friends relative was visiting from Bangalore and made this for us and it was to die for! She is gone, wish i had taken the recipe. Dont want the online recipes, tried 2 from google searches and it wasnt even close.
Re: Indian recipe?
Oh, I had this recently at a Thanksgiving lunch. It was out of this world. The guy who made it was a chef and it was divine! He served it as an appetizer though, so it was more like pakoray, there was no gravy. He wouldn’t give up the recipe though ![]()
What recipe did you get online? Here’s the one I got, I haven’t tried it yet, but it sounds about right to me.
cauliflower florets; Tandoori Masala (Badshah or Shaan packets); ginger-garlic paste; half cup all purpose flour (maida); quarter cup corn flour; salt to taste.
- Make a batter with maida and corn flour, ginger-garlic paste, tandoori masala and salt. Marinate the cauliflower florets in it for 10 mins.
- Deep fry the cauliflower florets
Maybe I will try it out tonight now that you’ve reminded me.
Re: Indian recipe?
Namkeen: I think the one soorajmukhi is talking about is in gravy. What you have described is more like cauliflower pakoras.
Re: Indian recipe?
Yes I know, but I don't have a good recipe for Manchurian with the gravy. Ab tum hi bata do.
Re: Indian recipe?
I went to an IndoChinese halal place for dinner last night with some friends, we ordered Gobhi Manchurian. It was delicious. I also had chicken Mo Mo, which was a lot like Afghani Mantu and Hakka Noodles, Lollypop Chicken and some thai style soups.

Thanks namkeen- i will try it out this weekend :)
Re: Indian recipe?
sooraj-mukhi, I made the cauliflower pakoray this afternoon, they were good. Of course, very different from the gobhi manchurian I had the other day. Let me know if you've got a recipe for that.
Re: Indian recipe?
Here is the recipe for gobi munchurian that I jotted down from the TV today
Take one whole cauliflower and break into florets.
In a bowl make a paste of the following, 2 eggs, 2 tbs cornflour, and salt to taste, mix in the florets and marinate for a couple of minutes.
Deep fry the florets and put aside on tissue paper
In a fry pan add cooking oil (2 chamach), add 1 tbs garlic paste and fry, then add a bowl of ketchup, 1tsp white pepper, 1 tsp black pepper, add a bowl of chicken broth, add two tablespoon pinapple juice, add 1 tsp sugar (she used brown sugar I think).
After the sauce comes to a boil add 1 tsp cornflour mixed with water, add green pepper 4 whole, and add like 2 tbs pineapple cubes, then add the gobi put the lid and let it simmer for a couple of minutes.
Serve with boiled rice.
Enjoy, I think this is what you wanted.
Re: Indian recipe?
OOh this sounds yummy marium, i think i will skip the ketchup for chilli garlic sauce and add a tad bit of soy sauce for the chinese flavour also...
Re: Indian recipe?
