**Suspected militants have killed two policemen in Indian-administered Kashmir, the police said.**A third policeman was injured in the attack which happened in Pampore township, south of the summer capital, Srinagar, the police added.
No militant group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
Separatist violence has declined sharply in Indian-administered Kashmir in the past few years, though sporadic incidents happen, correspondents say.
Police said Tuesday afternoon’s incident happened when the militants fired at a police patrol.
The three injured policemen were taken to the hospital, where two of them died of their injuries.
Militant influx
Security forces say there are fears that the militants have been regrouping in various towns in the Muslim-dominated valley.
They say although the Indian troops have foiled many infiltration bids on the Line of Control (LoC) - which separates Indian-and Pakistani-administered Kashmir - this year, hundreds of militants have managed to sneak in.
India has accused Pakistani troops of firing across the border in the state’s Jammu region in violation of the ceasefire declared by the two armies five years ago.
Talks between the two countries were suspended after the Mumbai terror attacks of November last year.
