Indian PM Manmohan Singh's I DAY speech in Urdu

Indian Prime Minister Singh’s Independence Day address was delivered in chaste Urdu. As the camera caught Dr Singh reading from the prepared text he was seen turning the pages of his speech from left to right — an indication he was reading the speech from an Urdu script.

Why not? It is one of India's national languages. :)

Urdu is an Indian language because it took birth on Indian soil and despite assimilating and adapting some of its vocabulary from Persian/Arabic/Turkish/Other it is still an Indic/Sanskritic language.

Pakistanis (including me) can't speak Urdu to save their lives. Proper elegant Urdu is still limited to India, even our politicians and bureaucracy class can't speak without an accent.

Our friends from the Urdu-Belt in India regularly mock Pakistanis for our vain attempts at trying to speak Urdu. :D

Older generations of Sikh know Urdu ... as some of them only know this language.

Intresting to know though ...
