Indian pilgrim makes it on foot to Makkah!

Early February an Indian pilgrim arrived at the Saudi check-post of
Halat Ammar after an arduous journey which began in his Bihar home-town
of Dhanbad three years ago. Muhammad Zafar Qadiri, 60, started his long
journey on 28 May 1998. This journey covering thousands of kilometers
took him to Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Jordan and finally to Saudi Arabia.
According to a report in the Saudi daily Al-Riyad, he did not find any
difficulty except on the borders of Pakistan and Iran. People helped him
with provisions and his only dread was wild animals on the long journey.
He plans to go to Jerusalem to visit the Aqsa Mosque on his way back to
India and wishes to come back for Hajj 11 times by the same route!
