meh.. pretty much every single indian ceo of a western company is a first generation immigrant, and has an indian accent - pepsico ceo indra nooyi has a definite tamil accent going. adobe ceo shantanu narayan still cant do a soft T (all you north indians/pakistanis dont realize there is a soft T - TwenTi Too anyone?). not to mention all the ceos of indian companies that are based out of india with plenty of global outreach today - infy, mittal, tata, reliance blah blah..
no one who’s educated enough to make it big in a good job in the west loses out on career prospects just because of an accent - especially in the tech field. if your job is to schmooze up to xenophobic investors, then maybe. the bulk of business innovation and research in the US is done by first generation immigrants with all sorts of accents.
It's mind-boggling that the first person in the Youtube videos knows 15 languages.
I am amazed at his fluency, accent and diction of Urdu. It is as if he spent a major part of his life growing up in an Urdu speaking environment to have such knowledge of the language. On top of that 14 other languages too ? Again, simply mind-boggling.
He is truly gifted and a genius.
i just love that. i was once working with a few schottish fellows for more than a couple of months and had began to feel my accent turning like theirs. That was fun.
I have less of any issue with pakistani people and their screwed up accents when speaking English, but more of an issue when dang desis who were born and raised in Pakistan and have Urdu as their first and only, or second language...murder it mercilessly with screwed up accents, annoying nasal tones, and horrid delivery.
Example....remember that continually interrupted geo news reporter trying to record an eid time story at some train station about people taking trains from Karachi to go see family in other parts of the country.
