we had co-existed for centuries and there was no reason, in my opinion, to worry about any changes in the social setup. we would have co-existed even after the independence.
We can't assume that the leaders who lived that period and demanded for separate homeland for Muslims, just did this for some fantasy. There were problems in co-existence and thats why they opt for this demand.

the current setup has lead to two ideologically divergent nations as was desired by the populations in these countries. its hard imagining they could have worked together for long.

Actually the biggest losers included Muslims of India/Kashmir, those who migrated to Pakistan (Muhajirs and Biharis).

Those Muslim leaders who opposed had their concerns not necessarily out of hatred but they could not comprehend the idea of making a country based on the religious differences.
The fear of backlash from Hindus towards Muslims after British leave was also justified.
Pakistan from very beginning had significant setbacks.
Power tussle was and still is pathetic.
Majority Public in general is still satisfied not having to deal with laws against their religion.

The two state solution was only needed because the Britishers created greater rifts between the religions and when they left it was mostly their doing that the 2 state solution was even backed.

yeh, Jaan o Maal is not safe in Pakistan and Izaat is not safe in india, i mean rape cases. What i meant was, problems are everywhere, Crimes are everywhere. Even new York is nt a land of Paradise... All Muslims are not bad. All Christans and Hindus are not bad. One wrong muslim/hindu/christan does not make all Muslims or Hindus bad. Basically human nature is evil and dominating... That is why, You can not say that Pakistan is nt a place to live cz "Jaan o Maal" is not safe in pak. "Jaan o Maal plus Izaat is not safe in every part of the world.

The true sports romantic in me died this week when my friendship with my Pakistani friend broke. We were going to watch the India vs Pakistan world cup match together next year like always. I don't want to go and watch now. I was going to rip my tickets but instead i will sell them.
I know i completely agree with you. It would be nice to dream of such a team..of maybe Tendulkar, Wasim AKram and Waqar Younis

At the risk of embarrassing Prince, he is all right. I was the uptight one. Focusing on one issue. People have a right to their opinion. I forget that at times.
