Indian Media Exploiting Pakistani Musicians

In the upcoming Indian movie Chocolate famous Pakistani song “aadat” is copied with the name of “zeherelee baatain”.In the same movie Fakhir’s song “marjawaan” is also copied. But this is not a thing to worry about we copy their songs and they copy our songs scores are level. But what about the songs which our singers sing for Indian movies and are not recognized or appreciated by the Indian media or for that matter even by the music directors of that movie.

Atif Aslam former Lead Vocalist of Jal went to India and recorded "bhegi yaadein" for the film “Zeher” which was produced and directed by the bhatt family. The song became an instant hit and the remix version that was done by DJ Suketu became even more popular then the original one. What did poor atif get from this?Did anyone in India know that atif sang bheegi yaadain.Another Dj Bally Sagoo did a song by the name of “Dil cheez” which was also a hit what about the singer who sang it? shabnam majeed no one knows about her and najam sheraz who composed the song “bheegay hont” but his name is not mentioned anywhere. It won many awards everyone knows that kunal ganjwala did the playback for murder. By the way murder also featured a song by another Pakistani singer.

The fact is Pakistani singers sell their songs in India at a very low price and with little or no legal formalities. The Indian promoters market their songs effectively and make money out of these songs.Sadly our singers are not given credit when it is due and their fault too that they are not that self assertive

Most Indians don't have a clue that these songs are actually Pakistani. Self-absorbed nation...

:D
No they sound worse in Bollywood, but its good for the Pakistani movie industry to get exposure in Indian films,, its just that they should give some credit to the original artists rather than just copying.

Re: Indian Media Exploiting Pakistani Musicians

Wrong. They’re just too damn cunning to admit it. Just like they couldn’t accept when Pak dramas were the rage uptil about 10 years back.

Re: Indian Media Exploiting Pakistani Musicians

& all are big hits.

kishmish, i still wuv you so.

Re: Indian Media Exploiting Pakistani Musicians

Indian "music directors" have stolen Pakistani music for years. Annu Malik made a career of stealing tunes from Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's songs and was rebuked by the late Majrooh Sultanpuri who called him an "Unpadh Gaddha" while India's resident joker in the film industry Mahesh Bhatt rallied to Malik's side and attacked Majrooh saheb in interview after interview. The present case may be no different - this has been going on for some time with some of the third rate music directors in India though there are original composers like A R Rahman etc who do not copy others' work.

And yes, Pakistani serials were extremely popular especially in the border areas in the years before satellite television in India because they were clean and provided good family entertainment. Video cassettes of the serials used to be available in video rental shops in most other parts of India back then but somehow they disappeared later and none of the newer serials are available in India. I may be wrong on the last part about newer serials being available in India now in a very current sense, though, because I have not been there in more than two years now.
