"A 25-year-old Indian man has married his 80-year-old grandmother because he wants to take care of her.
“I felt she needed extra care as she is old. I can look after her better as a husband than as a grandson,” Narayan Biswassaid.
“As a husband, I am with her all the time, to care for her,” said the high school graduate, who farms rice fields and also works as a tutor.
The grandmother, her back bent with age, says she is “happy” with her young husband whom she married in a traditional Hindu ceremony near Panchpara, a village 150 kilometres west of Calcutta.
Her first husband died more than 30 years ago… "
So he married his grandmother to take care of her needs. What is wrong with this hindu indian society? Any indian to enlighten us?
Only serious answers please. Is it illegal in india? If yes, why they allowed this marriage to go ahead?
Not sure if this is the right forum, please move to the right forum if it is not.
Nothin unusual in Hinduism.
I know an Hindu Restaurant owner in my city.
The restaurant owners wife's brother wanted to come to Holland
the daughters mother wanted her daughter to marry her uncle.
Eventually she ran away because the parents were forcing her to go to India and marry her uncle.
^^ But why would some like to emigrate from such a prosper country like india?
If the indians on this forum are to be believed, india is the wealthiest and happiest country in the world. So why would anyone want to run away from it even by marrying his own niece?
I just wonder what happened to india after Mohandas Karamchand ..

Local officials say marrying a blood relation is illegal under the Hindu Marriage Act, but they have no plans to take action against the couple.
"There has been no complaint against them and they are living as husband and wife after a temple ceremony. Their own family has accepted them so we have no plans to act as of now," Dilip Das, a local government official, said.

My question was to indians to enlighten us lesser humans if it was illegal in india (read hindu india) to marry own grandmother? And if yes, why they allowed this marriage to go ahead? And why they allowed this wedding ceremony in the temple?
Because lots of illegal thing still happen in India. You know we are so cutting edge in corruption :D
However, in Hinduism, whatever is left of its original form, marriage within relatives of any type isn't allowed. In South India, marrying cousins is OK in some villages...it's more cultural than religious, but this particular incident is creepy and sickening. Why can't a grandson take care of his grandma without marrying her? Totally weird.

Marrying her does not mean that he is having sex with her. Maybe culturally in that part of the world, worldly possessions can only be taken advantage by a legal wife. Maybe that is his way (a rather stupid way) of solving that problem.
I was just browsing and came across this news, which is from 2004 but still very shocking:
Why do all your posts have to do with such perversion? Do you search for such things all day long? You don't just come across a report from 2004 until and unless you actively search for it. It certainly is not a healthy habit you know.Searching and reading perversion all day long. You should get yourself checked.
