Indian man 'forced 10 abortions on wife in quest for son'

This is just sickening, callous, hugely chauvinist and wrong in so many way!

A man wanting a son reportedly forced his wife into 10 abortions in 23 years. Dhanvanti More, of Mumbai, who has four daughters, told the Hindustan Times that each time she became pregnant her husband arranged an ultrasound test to see if it was a boy.

A court ordered the man detained on charges of harassment and forcing abortions. Ms More filed a complaint after her husband married a second woman and had a son.

Police are also investigating the doctors who did the tests and abortions. Revealing a foetus’s sex after such a test is illegal in India.

And many a time, men in india and pak assume it’s the woman’s fault if a son is not happening

Re: Indian man ‘forced 10 abortions on wife in quest for son’

You know some odd people. Abortion is legal in India, illegal in Pakistan.

Re: Indian man 'forced 10 abortions on wife in quest for son'

I was talking of the uneducated lot.

and it's not about abortion being legal or not - among certain sections of people in both india & pak having a girl is not as good as having a boy.

Re: Indian man 'forced 10 abortions on wife in quest for son'

she could go through 10 abortions but she couldnt kick his A$$?

Re: Indian man 'forced 10 abortions on wife in quest for son'

What do you mean it's not about it being legal or illegal? If something is illegal you can get punished for it. If something is legal you cannot. Are you saying all Pakistanis (or Indians) think alike and all want only boys? Who's the uneducated one?

Re: Indian man 'forced 10 abortions on wife in quest for son'

It happens even in educated families. When my dh's aunt had her second daughter, her susral were angry because she didn't have an abortion since it was widely available at that time. I have a son, but when my third daughter was born, a neighbor wanted to know why we were serving mithai, as there was nothing to celebrate.

The preference for sons is so deeply ingrained in most people's way of thinking. When I had the ultrasound for my second in pak, and they told me it was a girl, it was followed by the comment "but at least you already have a son." What a fool.

Re: Indian man 'forced 10 abortions on wife in quest for son'

If only people knew the rewards of having a daughter...they would never want a son.

Re: Indian man ‘forced 10 abortions on wife in quest for son’

I always find it weired when they blame it all on women, unfortunately people still do but i don’t think an educated woman should take such crap.

Personally, I would love to have a daughter and a son but if not, i will be much more happy having two daughters

Re: Indian man 'forced 10 abortions on wife in quest for son'

In this world very many bad things are done inspite of them being illegal or not.

abortion may be illegal in pak according to what your telling me, but that doesn't mean that girls are not put through some amount of abuse, just for being female. the abuse could be physical or emotional, but it's there.

Re: Indian man 'forced 10 abortions on wife in quest for son'

Thats 10 murders right there.... the hell with legal or illegal part.....

The hell with Capital Punishment.. they should shoot his private part 10 times and call it end of the day..... Let him live and go through misery for rest of his life.... Death is too simple punishment....

For losers like these there should be NO exceptions...

Re: Indian man 'forced 10 abortions on wife in quest for son'

Considering the fact that the father uhm determines whether the baby is going to be a boy or girl, I think the husband shouldve been beaten for being unable to produce the 'Y" chromosome :D

Re: Indian man 'forced 10 abortions on wife in quest for son'

i have to say it is so stupid. i dont understand why they prefer the boys over the gilrls? is it cos the girl has to one day go and the boy is gona continue there family line or something like that. i perosnally think nowadays kids dont care for their parents much cos it is just like u get wat u want from them and thats it ur off i am not saying all kids but i dont understand why ppl make a big deal out of it a boy is born the same way a mani s born so....

Re: Indian man 'forced 10 abortions on wife in quest for son'

Well the boy will be a breadwinner isnt it...In India the boy is a commodity while the girl is an expense...
Infanticide is common in India...where if not aborted...baby girls are killed...
Its disgusting...dont these idiots understand that we all came from a woman...so if you keep killing the women then there aint ever gonna be sons in the futre...Dumb fools...

Re: Indian man 'forced 10 abortions on wife in quest for son'

Re: Indian man 'forced 10 abortions on wife in quest for son'

10 abortions dayum!!! Dont get it why pple aren't happy
what they get.

Re: Indian man 'forced 10 abortions on wife in quest for son'

thats just disgusting.. Indians have a history of being a weird sick people from the time of Alexander the great plus there girls come out like tarred goblins. too bad that a lot of loosers in Pakistan watch their smelly bollywood movies and try to emulate them more and more...
Though there is pressure to have boys in pakistan too, I havent seen it, my parents treat us girls better than girls anyday!! and in our country and culture I doubt people have abortions as thats equal to murder and haram in Islam; it is way below the world average. I dont think there is any comparison between Pak and indiia (maybe just with mohajirs who still follow indian cultural patterns but they are only a small percentage). Anyhow its like comparing raisins vs. watermelons. In any case it is strictly forbidden and a barbaric act which I cant believe still occurs in this day and age!
