Major in trouble for marrying Afghan-India-The Times of India
NAINITAL: They met at Kabul’s Indira Gandhi Hospital in 2005. Army doctor Major Shekhar Chand Pant was on an assignment in Afghanistan. There he
met Sabra, 20, a translator and an Afghan national. They got married in August 2006.On Sunday, the major was booked for fraudulently marrying the girl.
According to police, Pant belongs to the Army Medical Corp and is posted at Pithoragarh army hospital.
He is from Kumaon’s Bageshwar district and is already married with two kids. He wasn’t available for comment, but senior cops said Pant had admitted to the second marriage.
According to Pithoragarh SP Puran Singh Rawat, criminal cases were registered against Pant related to cheating one’s wife and causing her mental agony.
