BOGGED DOWN by lack of creativity, investment and audience patronage, the Lahore-based Pakistan film industry is facing serious crisis with many film-makers believing that the best way to prop it up is by permitting Indian films to be shown on the big screen on an exchange basis.
With local film production going down to just 25 films last year and audience attendance falling to alarming 10 to 15 per cent, the film industry here, popularly called Lollywood, feels it is time the government allowed cross border exchange of films, a report said on Sunday.
"If the government can allow cross-border channels in people’s homes, there should not be any objection to the display of their films on the large screen”, the News quoted film industry sources as saying.
