Indian film “Janasheen” to be shot in Afghanistan
Hindi ACTOR-producer Feroz Khan’s passion for Afghanistan is indefatigable. He plans to shoot his new project entitled Janasheen in the war-ravaged nation. The film stars himself along with son Fardeen Khan and Miss India-turned-actress Celina Jaitley.
Incidentally, he had shot one of his earlier films — Dharmatma — starring himself with Hema Malini and Rekha in Afghanistan.
Khan, who is at present shooting at Bangalore, says that he is proceeding to get the necessary permissions for the shoot. “The war is over there. I would get the permission easily. It shouldn’t be a problem. I love the place a lot,” says Khan.
In Janasheen, he essays the role of an Afghan business tycoon, an hard-hearted man, who has lost his family in the war. Fardeen plays his son in the film.
Several of Khan’s scenes in particular are expected to be shot in the hilly terrains.
“The setting of the film is the 1980s. The war forms the backdrop of the movie. However the film is not all about bloodshed. If you recollect when I was shooting for Dharmatma, the bloodless coup took place and King Zahir Shah was ousted. There was some amount of fighting between pro and anti-Shah forces, but we had security and we managed to shoot without any problem,” informs Khan.
Afghanistan still holds fond memories for him. It is a beautiful nation. It has some really scenic locales. I intend to shoot there for almost a week,” he adds.
Khan is returning to acting after 13 years. “I acted last in Dayavan. I have been very particular about the roles I do ever since I got behind the camera. I had decided to take a short break and do short and important roles.The role of Saba Karim — as the foster father to Fardeen — fell on my lap and I decided to take it on,” says Khan.
The music in Feroz Khan’s movies too have been diffferent. “In Janasheen too, you will find music which is a mix of melody and rhythm. We have pop songs and club beats too. Anand Raaj Anand has done a great job with the music,” signs off Khan.
