I was wondering if any one has experience with home based designers from India ? and if yes, which ones? I doubt I will be able to go to India myself for dress shopping but I was looking for a GOOD trustworthy home based designer in India who could make some dresses for me.
There is a much smaller pool of home based designers and Ive found (or heard from other relatives) the majority to be inconsistent and a bit unreliable in terms of delivery times and quality; but am hoping to eventually find someone upto the mark!
The ones that have been consistently good and deliver when ordering remotely are the ones with their own workshops and small studios etc trying to make a name in the market so I dont know if they still fall under ‘homebased’?
Indian Rupee being stronger doesn’t help prices either where home based is concerned
Thanks a lot for your reply! Yes i did read your review yesterday and she seems to have a nice collection. I would love to know about those other indian designers who like you said are not that popular yet but deliver good quality work. Iv actually fallen in love with a tarun tahilliani bridal lol and i was wondering if anyone would know of good online vendors who could make something like that. I could get a replica made from pakistan as well but it’s an anarkali and even the high end designers from pakistan do not seem to have the same cut and volume in an anarkali lehanga that indian designers seem to have . might be a difference in the material they use ? My range is max 3.5 laks, could go a bit above that too. but that tarun tahiliani bridal is probably around 6-7 lakhs , so meh!
I’ve heard there are a few shops in chandni chowk who have really good replicas. another lady from india posted a blog about chandni chowk shops
question is, how can i get someone to shop for a bridal from there, or something else i want. I like how indian designers have a mix of really dense but neat dabka along with gotta, mirror work, resham , has a royal feel to it. I love pakistani bridals too but they all look the same to me mostly hehe. (oh and im born and raised in pakistan - so yes i love our bridals too, just want something different for my wedding.
I have a year before my wedding but I want to make up my mind way ahead so im clear as to where ill be looking for the dress.
so yes by home based i meant designers like prototype and catwalk in pakistan , or like you mentioned deepika chaddha, basically any indian designers who would deliver good quality work withing my range
There is a blogger peachesandblush. She also has a website called wedmegood. You can contact her. I haven't ordered from her yet but she seems a good person.
Yes i did came across Indian Fashion Emporium recently too and asked for their latest catalogue as well as some price quotes. lets seee. really liked their work. and thanks a lot, i will definitely check the black blow and wedmegood too :)
