Indian Designer ~ Jaya Rathore

Jaya Rathore showcased her Autumn/Winter 2010 collection at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week recently with Neha Dhupia walking the ramp for her. The theme of Jaya’s collection was ‘Out from my grandmom’s treasury!’ – showcasing her penchant for exclusive antiques.

Here she experiments with medieval-age convent stitches that have been extensively used in appliqué, borders and laces which are then applied on the garment and the kundan jadau work. The fabrics used are net, georgettes, silk, handloom, tussar and satin.

I really love the theme of the show. I wish some Pakistani designer picks it up for their show.

Do you like what you see?

Re: Indian Designer ~ Jaya Rathore

I dont know why...I just dont see it. :( Im not trying to be pro-Pakistani at all...I really dont see it.

I like the pink and red combo best...the rest....meh. (too much kaam, I think)

I like anarkali for medievel theme.

Re: Indian Designer ~ Jaya Rathore

I don't like it sorry...the styling of the clothes and setting of the dupatta must be related to the theme but from what i have of my grandmother even my eldest khalas/mothers clothes i think their clothes embroideries etc were much better then how she has interpreted it - i find the clothes in above pictures tacky.
