Indian Culture, Pakistani culture (TV review)....

*Our media have a Hindu stereotype (cowardly, ugly, cunning, cruel, scheming, hating) and indignity is heaped on India by showing a Hindu girl falling in love with a Muslim religious warrior. And she invariably abandons her cruel parents to side with our pious warrior! PTV did it even with its play on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre! *

armughal is that really u - i donn beleive what i see.if this is really to do something with ur enlightenment then i think that bodes good for the guppies.

haven't watched TV in a while.. did they started all this recently..?

I do know however that the stereotype exists.. it's actually quite funny considering the miniscule differences between the two cultures

Sadly this dehumanising belief system is present in any idealogical driven state. Pakistan being no exception. Pakistan Studies books used to have a chapter on the 1971 War (and anyone who attempted questions on that was pretty much guaranteed to lose marks) anyway the chapter was pretty much a white wash on the whole incident. Ayub Khan also used to make comments about the “Hindu Mentality” which is sad because Christains and Hindus have served the Pakistani Army with ditinction and patriotism.

Cowasjee write about historical distortions on the other side of the border as well…http://www.dawn.com/weekly/cowas/20031102.htm
