Are there any records still kept for the ICS exams - for eg., those who took the Indian Civil Service exam during the late 1940s - would there be a record of that somewhere, if even their registered names and final marks ? Same question for the Civil Service of Pakistan around the early 1950s…does any governmental department still keep an official list of the registered names of individuals who took the exam during that decade ?

wow..really digging up the old records. Why do you wanna know? Not that I have the answer to your question. :)
ChthonicPowers, heh
That’s alright, thank you anyways. ![]()
My reason for asking in this thread was because someone i know sat for the ICS (subsequent to migrating to Pakistan, he then took the CSS). i just wanted to know if they had any records of him, maybe even the marks he obtained or - here’s a LONG shot indeed - maybe names of fellow classmates of his, who sat for the same exam, who might still be around today… i realize how slim that last possibility may be. Waisay, if i am able to get an official record of his having sat for those exams, which subjects he took and his final marks, i will be extremely happy with that.
The only presence of CCS online is http://www.css.com.pk
You might want to contact them at [email protected]
This is the email address of the webmaster. You can ask him about the offices of CSS administring authority, and whether they keep the records or not.
Hope this helps.
The mostlikely wont have them. In Pakistan most of the historical and official documents in teh FO were destoryed during some flooding. Original papers written by Quaid-e-Azam were found totally worthless. So i dont think any records exist in Pakistan.
Indian, you can always try, but i doubt anybody is gonna have the time or inclination to go through all those old records for some scores, even if they have them.
It is a long shot, but the motivation is not there.

How come they were destroyed in Pakistan with a flood, and not in India? Is our National Archive that bad?
:(
Nope, because thsi was in Islamabad when the building was newly constructed and the basement was flooded, so the government lost a great deal of documents. I would be guessing they didnt keep anything that couldnt be saved.
ChthonicPowers, Thank you so much.
Someone PM’ed me that link, i am going to try and drop an e-mail to that e-mail address. Thanks so much for your help in this thread, i really appreciate it.
CM, Unfortunate to hear about that flooding.
i really wanted to dig up the records. i’ll drop an e-mail to the address ChthonicPowers mentioned above, Insha’Allah maybe someone will reply with something, if even someone else’s name who can help me out.
Re the Indian civil service… i agree, they have no incentive to help me out.
Thanks, guys, for your help
i honestly really appreciate it.
Well let me see what i can do about this.
