yesterday we were invited to dinner and the kids were making soo much noise ,the host of the party give them permission to watch cartoons and alaas it was peace:) i went to check mawiz and saw that they were watching that indian cartoon JUMBO.
my son came to me and said..mama what do u mean by the word SALA,ADAISH,BAKWAS BANDA KAROO AND CHALBAZZ:smack: i told him that we ll discuss this at home.
well tell me will u allow ur kids to watch these cartoons ,i asked that from my friend too and she said YAAR its ok atleast they are learning urdu..hain i think theirs a vast diff between hindi and urdu.

if parents think that their kids are learning urdu . then its better that they teach them urdu them selves ..so the parents know what they are being taught is right. like my dad every weekend ..after fajar namaz .. teaches my brothers and sister urdu which involves reading writing and understing from an islamic book ..this achieves the goal and same time learn something about islam. then he teaches em to read quraan and then a few rules / tajweed on how to read quraan ..
and if every parent did this .. i think it would be good ..for themselves and for the children
When I have kids, I don't think I will let them watch indian cartoons, I would prefer american cartoons like dora, little einstien, etc...they educational and don't have any objectionable language.
all those parents and ppl who love to watch bollywood crap should make their kids watch indian cartoons aswell and explain them this is where we came from decades ago and hopefully this is where we'll end up in another 2-3 decades from now...to clean indian roads and bathrooms.
Indian dubbing is crap. My kid went to Pakistan for extended period (around 4 months) couple of years ago and he got exposed to such cartoons with words as SALA, MAIN USS SAI PEYAAR KETA HOON, ARAY AA JAA MEHBOOB MAIREY etc. We had to work hard and switch him to dvds
^ American cartoons dubbed in Hindi are pretty pathetic, since the cultural nuances get lost. I have personally not noticed the kind of language thats been mentioned by various posters.
When we travel to India. my kids watch either Hindi cartoons (not dubbed ones) or American ones (which they are familiar with).
I went to Pakistan last year and was surprised at how much kids there watch cartoons dubbed in hindi. What's worse is that their everyday language has been corrupted! They use hardcore hindi words, as well as all these bollywoodish dialogues. I couldn't believe it!
That’s crazy stuff. My kids aren’t allowed anything Bollywood. Well we don’t have “dish” at home and hardly ever see Bollywood shows so we’re OK. At least for now. We’ll see what happens later
There are indian cartoons? :-O Honestly, I didn't know. I tried to find cartoons dubbed in Urdu during my last visit to Pakistan but no one had 'em. I wouldn't let Misbah watch hindi dubbed cartoons because that will be counter productive to my efforts of teaching her Urdu.

I would have been surprised if you did know, given that you've probably never been to India. That apart, most of those Indian cartoons (or should I say animation movies) deal with Indian mythological characters (mostly Hindu) which would not be welcomed in Pakistan anyways.
