CALCUTTA: Indian and Bangladeshi troops traded fire over their border causing panic among villagers but inflicting no injuries, officials said Sunday.
Two sides exchanged gunfire for several hours Saturday at Shamshernagar, about 70 kilometers east of Calcutta. India accused Bangladesh of opening fire after a dispute over the construction of a small dock on the Indian side of the Itchamati river. Bangladesh official said his side had fired in retaliation.
IMO, after india’s humiliating withdrawal from the pak border, they want to save their image in the eyes to deluded masses by picking a fight with a weaker BD. But they forget, that even Banladeshis will teach them a lesson they’ll never forget like they did in april 2001.
Indian Priminister Vajpayee, today promised a decisive battle against the Bangladeshis after they allegedly fired shots into the Indian territory.
Vajpayee was said to be furious at the lack of response from his over paid and pot-bellied soldiers. These soldiers had recently been transferred to the Bangladeshi border in the hope that they could boost the flagging morale of the Indian nation by killing a few Muslim Bangladeshi soldiers.
After a yearlong stand off with Pakistan, where the promised decisive battle failed to materialize, the current incident comes as a great embarrassment to the Indian leadership.
In order to avoid the ‘Decisive Battle’, the Indian Home Minister and Deputy Priminister L.K Advani, is drawing up a list of demands and names of ‘known’ fugitives that India wants the Bangladeshis to handover to the border security force of India. So far, there has been no comment from the members of Bangladeshi government, who were last seen laughing all the way to the alleged ISI headquarter in Dacca.
