India is greatly annoyed by China Pakistan partnership over CPEC and it fails to see a bright future for India in South Asia. America and Israel might not be of great help if India will be surrounded by the Chinese String of Pearls.
Like they say barking dogs seldom bite. Indian army chief can’t bite so he’s doing what he can.
No war between India and Pakistan is possible in the current scenario.
And Pakistan is quietly moving to a transitory military rule (or a technocratic government) as Sohail Waraich and Cyril Almeida have indicated.
Re: Indian army chief’s ‘bluff’ and realities of Pakistan
You pretty much nailed it, last few stand offs and we all know what happened. The last one I believe is when they brought one million and did a full fledge chakka dance at the border for 10 months demanding hand over of 20 terrorist (Yeah sure as if the bhookas & nangas are a supa powa) and than quietly crawled back to their holes. Now what are they going to do? another round of surgical strikes from their side of the border.
Re: Indian army chief’s ‘bluff’ and realities of Pakistan
What happens now when Americans withdraw support and perhaps not supply parts, ammo and equipment. In the past USA provided a lot of support. In 1971 India was planning to Invade and USA launched the 7th fleet and they backed off. Do you think USA might use India to pressure Pak in accepting cooperation in fight against tallies. Already hostilities are starting.
Re: Indian army chief’s ‘bluff’ and realities of Pakistan
lol @ all that.
Pakistan is in good position to challenge any US dependence, China won’t want to let Pakistan fall to ensure the success of CPEC. Hindustan can stay on sideline and cry with US/Israel or it can stop supporting US mercenaries to destabilize Pakistan and enjoy the fruit of growth i.e. booming/growing Pakistani economy will mean Pakistan not wanting to destabilize the region as well, but then that may not suit the extremist Hindus
Re: Indian army chief’s ‘bluff’ and realities of Pakistan
India doesn’t want a stronger Pakistan as it further endears Kashmiris to opt for merger with Pakistan. India routinely uses this argument in their country that why would you (kashmiris) want to join a failing Pakistan when you can be with a growing “superpower” india?
One of the reasons that India is against CPEC is because after 2011, FDI had dried up and India was dreaming that Pakistan would be on its knees and not only would it surrender kashmir but also get the afghan transit route practically for free or peanuts. They might as well transport weapons to TTP through the route. India does consider itself the America of this region and Pakistan its mexico, if it is lucky, or probably its Guatemala. @bobby: US will be ill-advised to use India. Heck, even the usual anti-Pakistani american analysts said that Trump is doing no favors to american end goals in afghanistan by pretty much confirming Pakistani suspicions of afghanistan. The military is invested in CPEC and if india let alone the US interferes with it, you can be rest assured that there will be consequences. Heck, we might even get rid of hijras that serve as “leaders” in our military and civilian sphere. It won’t be good for Pakistan either in the long run. There is a reason that Clinton administration didn’t force Pakistan’s hand via IMF and World Bank after 1998 nuclear tests as they don’t want the country to completely fail.
Re: Indian army chief’s ‘bluff’ and realities of Pakistan
If you study the history of Indians and their attitude at present, you will realise they can’t be successful. First of all they are not one nation. They have many more ethnic groups than we have in Pakistan which they can’t unite in the name of religion as even Hindus are divided while Muslims are the largest religious minority. They are united in the name of Indian nationalism which is not a strong bond, why? Because Indian nationalism is not feeding 270 plus million people enough who are living below poverty line. World Bank said in 2016 India had highest number of people living below poverty line. This is happening while India allocated about 13% of total government expenditure for defense last year. Now do you think such a people have right to dream of becoming a super power? Has India ever been a super power in the history of mankind? Do you think India has a match with China’s military strength? Can China tolerate an emerging super power India right under its nose? The answer is no.
Pakistan is just an ally of China to make sure India will never be strong enough to overshadow China and Pakistan both.
Indians are narrow minded and short sighted people who believe in bullying those who live with them. They bully Muslims and others living in India, they bully smaller countries in their neighbourhood as well. That’s all they can do, the dwarfs.
Re: Indian army chief’s ‘bluff’ and realities of Pakistan
We really have to look after own well being, Trump is making bad decision all around and has been threatening Canada on Nafta also and Canadians respond in a very calm manner and don’t get all emotional. He can be totally wrong in his policy but can inflict tremendous amount of devastation while being wrong. Yes they were wrong in Syria/Iraq/Libya and those countries are in rubble yet US economy thrives. I think the attack in Baluchistan and Indian attack at LOC both might be linked to pressure Pak army to get serious against Haqqanis and Talibans. US can afford to make a totally wrong decision in Afghanistan and wont really pay a big price. Even if they abandoned Afghanistan today, how does it adversely effect them? What happens to Pak if IMF, World Bank stop funding, trade sanctions are invoked, accounts sezed, no parts for military equipment, no supply of armaments etc? I think it is the best interest of Pak to strengthen relations with India and decimate Talibans and Haqqanis and focus on trade and progress.
Re: Indian army chief’s ‘bluff’ and realities of Pakistan
Robert Hathaway released a book regarding Leverage (Pakistan’s over US and it is free to read) where he mentions that even in the dark days of 1998, clinton administration didn’t block IMF and World Bank from giving loans to Pakistan. I am not in favor of such scenarios but China can step in since they are much stronger than a joke back in 1998.
As far as proxy wars, they can heat up along with unilateral drone actions though they won’t directly target the pakistani armed forces. It is a well-known fact in military circles that the reason TTP thrives in afghanistan is because US doesn’t feel Pakistan didn’t “do more” per its wishes. Afghan govt is haramkhor and do support TTP but US has swept in and taken them in custody much to afghan consternation.
I am totally for law and order and not giving space to extremists like LeJ, SSP, SSM etc but Pakistan should finish them off before picking a fight with haqqanis who straddle afghanistan. US itself does it but it doesn’t allow extremists to do anything in the homeland.
Re: Indian army chief’s ‘bluff’ and realities of Pakistan
The problem is that even at a snail pace, India is surging ahead of Pakistan. Some things like NASA assistance in training indian scientists and engineers which led to India’s own successful Mars probe can’t be matched by Pakistan. But there are lessons on investment in education that we can learn from India. Why do Pakistani babies have to go for surgeries to india? Pakistan is not afghanistan.
It is food for thought for both the establishment and our politicians if they care to think.
Re: Indian army chief’s ‘bluff’ and realities of Pakistan
You’re right, there’s no match of India with Pakistan. Pakistan couldn’t progress well because of military intervention in the democratic process. However, there are certain realities that can’t be ignored. Pakistan in 1947 started from scratch while India had been provided with all the basis by the British to run a state. I’ll give you one example; in 1947 Pakistan had less than 1500 factories, while India had almost 150,000 factories. That’s why a mere Mars probe can’t feed those 275 million hungry people in India. Their dream to be a super power is not possible with all the narrow mindedness which makes them mess about in the region. They are notorious to both great neighbours China and Pakistan, and both these neighbours will never let Indian dreams come true. Had Indians had common sense and not sick mentality, they would have negotiated with Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir issue. With Kashmir issue resolved, relations between India and Pakistan would normalise and the whole region would prosper. Indian dilemma is they believe it’s all size that matters lol. India is geographically mighty, it gives them this illusion that they are a sleeping super power with a potential to wake up
Moderate and enlightened leaders like Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and Muhammad Ali Jinnah had seen the true colours of Indian genetic code, that’s why they believed Muslims couldn’t live with this crazy mindset of extremist Hindus. This typical Indian mindset is a catalyst for invaders and an inhibitor for India to be a super power lol.
Re: Indian army chief’s ‘bluff’ and realities of Pakistan
Pakistan trusts China much more than US. US has abandoned Pakistan as soon as its need was over, they ran away from Afghanistan once Russia left and let Pakistan handle the mess. US promised to help in 1971 war which still has not arrived. There are millions of reasons.
Re: Indian army chief’s ‘bluff’ and realities of Pakistan
Americans have divorced Pakistan and are now dating with Mother India. I don’t understand the role of Israel though in this relationship, perhaps some kama sutra fetish?
Re: Indian army chief’s ‘bluff’ and realities of Pakistan
A war with Pakistan.
A war on Pakistan can be the end of the world!!! Pakistani army had been in battleground for some 13 years now and they have achieved an unthinkable victory over the terrorists!!! and that is twice!!! 1st was is Srilanka where Pakistani Army played vital role in eliminating Tamil Terrorists and then on its own home ground where Pak Army defeated MQM Terror Network, TTP and Baloch Terrorists that was impossible task yet Pakistan Army did it by Grace and Help of Allah All Mighty…
The frustration Shown by UAE, India and USA do tell us that Pakistan have actually beaten them…
Now if India starts a war with the backing of US and Israel, that would be start of bloody war which will last only few days and after which only few humans shall be left on this planet…
Re: Indian army chief’s ‘bluff’ and realities of Pakistan
Things are not as simple as you think my brother.
Sadly for whatever reasons Pak Army did the same dirty jobs that US Army and perhaps other armies of the world also do. Pakistan supported Afghan Mujahideen in 1980s, who were later joined by Americans with their Al-Qaida babies under OBL who were a CIA offshoot in the name of Islam. In 1990s CIA created Taliban who were later adopted by ISI. Now these jihadists spread mischief on earth in the name of Islam , in Afghanistan and in Pakistan. In 2001, Americans used the same Jihadists to wage a new war on Islam, called the war on terror. Pakistan army serving as mercenaries for Americans joined America in this unholy struggle. However later on Pakistan played a double game under Musharraf, because the armed forces realised they had entered a hell by joining hands with America. American conspiracy gave rise to anti-Pakistan jihadists like TTP. Actually the TTP was a reaction to Pakistan Army’s own bad deeds and crimes.
Pakistan Army did the same dirty job in Karachi when it indirectly or directly faciliated the rise of Altaf Hussain and his MQM in 1980s. The army wanted to kick out PPP from the Urban Sindh and to achieve this objective they sacrificed the people of Karachi. Karachiites have suffered for 3 decades because of the conspiracies and evil designs of the General Head Quarters Rawalpindi. MQM terror network was hit in the 1992 Operation Cleanup, but the army made sure Altaf Hussain escaped that. Altaf was kept alive in London so that he could be used by the ISI in future. When Musharraf came he again adopted MQM and that was the time when MQM started assassinating its political rivals and plundering and looting the people of Karachi. Pakistan Rangers, Corp Commander Karachi, ISI and the rest of the so called guardians of Pakistan turned a blind eye towards this satanism of MQM and the rest of criminals under ANP, Liyari Gangs of PPP etc.
Later when China offered more money to the notorious generals of Pak Army and corrupt politicians for its CPEC, Raheel Sharif started cleaning the mess that army itself had created over the past decades. In reality it was not actually clearing the mess, it was spreading it far and wide. Corrupt persons of MQM like Mustafa Kemal was adopted by the Army and all the criminals of MQM were forced to join his PSP. Now PSP became Pakistan Army’s dry-cleaner. Those who were involved in the killing of 250 factory workers in Baldia Town, Karachi factory were forced to join PSP and now they turned to angels.
PTI is another dry-clean service of the GHQ where all the lotas, criminals and corrupt persons joined Imran Khan to serve the dirty purposes of GHQ.
Had Pakistan Army’s leadership been patriotic and loyal to the purposes and values of this country, it hadn’t served Americans and their own top leadership for the sake of money, instead it would have defended the motherland from internal and external threats, and Pakistan would have been a safe and prosperous country.
All we need is a competent leader like Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey who would clean up our armed forces from the evil and corrupt generals who have now turned into a mafia and have held this country hostage since 1951 when they facilitated the assassination of Liaquat Ali Khan.
