India vs West Indies One day internationals

First one day international at Jamshedpur:

India won the toss and elected to bat. Sehwag and Ganguly could’nt stay at the crease for long. Tendulkar is injured and out of the match. However Agarkar is going great guns.

Current score is:
Runs Balls 4’s 6’s S R
V Sehwag c & b Drakes 28 27 4 0 103.70
S Ganguly b Collins 16 32 2 0 50.00

VVS Laxman b Nagamootoo 47 66 4 0 71.21
R Dravid batting 16 13 1 0 123.08

Extras (w-4, nb-1, b-4, lb-0): 9 Run Rate: 5.30
Total: 196/3 Overs: 37.0
FOW: 1/43 2/49 3/147

C Hooper 8.0 0 36 0 5 4.50
M Nagamootoo 8.0 0 44 1 1 5.50

Still Yuvraj and Kaif are down the order. I expect a score of 280 to 300 if everything goes on well.

My estimate did work out well. India scored 283/6 at the end of 50 overs thanks to some pinch hitting by Kaif.

WI win by 4 wkts on the last ball, good play by Sarwan 83 not out, and
Hinds 93.........

Unbelievable!
Westindies chased 285 runs!
Very good performance.
India's ODI performance at home is not looking good.
They tied 3-3 with England and they barely won against Zimbabwe.
Tendulkar was deeply missed.

" Earlier, the game was disrupted by irate and disappointed spectators throwing bottles into the ground after West Indies came within shouting distance of victory. Play was held up at the end of the 47th over, with the tourists just 13 runs away from a win. The players returned after a ten-minute break but by then West Indies had lost the momentum as the contest dramatically burst to life in 49th over bowled by Ashish Nehra. "

Tauba hai, why indians cant take defeat on theri home soil ? :hehe:
They have did this in Calcutta twice, once in WC 96 semifinal and once against Pakistan , tutuuttuut :nono: Ab agar india jeet bhi jaata tu they hsould have been ashamed of their victory!
well played Wesitndies though :k:

I am ashamed to see the crowd from my home town behave that way. It's not the first time they have done it. Some time back when England played they did the same - England bowler Devon malcom was hit by a missile. Today also they were doing it since beginning of the match.

ICC must consider banning cricket at any center where crowd cant behave and becomes a danger to the players and the game.

Fourth one-day international: India v England
ENGLAND's team manager Keith Fletcher has appealed to the Indian
authorities to take immediate steps to prevent a repeat of the
crowd disturbances yesterday which placed players on both sides
at risk of serious injury.
To field on the boundary edge as objects rained from the ter-
races was to be placed in persistent physical danger.
Players on both sides were bombarded with lumps of concrete,
bricks, glass bottles and earthenware pots. Devon Malcolm, mis-
fielding under a hail of stones, narrowly missed being struck by
an 8in steel bolt which embedded itself in the turf.
The bolt was passed on to the match referee Cammie Smith who
forwarded it to Indian officials along with Fletcher's formal
complaint. *

Sarwan Shows Nerves of Steel

Ramnaresh Sarwan said the sight of his team-mates willing him on allowed him to hit the last ball four needed for victory in the first one-day international in India.

The 22-year-old batsman was the hero of the hour after his team recorded a four-wicket win.

And it all came after crowd trouble marred the final denouement - the players had been forced off the field with three overs remaining.

“I was always thinking positive,” said Sarwan whose unbeaten on 83 from 89 deliveries included six fours and three sixes.

He shared in an 87-run third wicket partnership with opener Wavell Hinds, who top-scored with 93.

“I could see everyone standing on the dressing room balcony and that motivated me,” said Sarwan.

“I was looking for a yorker. I thought the best chance would be to hit straight or through extra cover,” he added.

West Indies skipper Carl Hooper was full of praise for his batsmen for surpassing India’s formidable 283 total.

“They were brilliant, it was good to see the batsmen held their nerve,” he said.

He was saddened, however, by the crowd trouble.

“I have experienced it before in India, but I am a bit disappointed to see it again in 2002,” he added.

Match referee Mike Procter said he was frightened by the situation.

“It was very scary to see firecrackers were being thrown into the ground and bursting close to the fielders,” he said.

**“Both teams displayed their professional outlook and carried on after the policemen moved in to curb the violence.” **

International Cricket Council chief executive Malcolm Speed said he was awaiting a report from Procter.

“It is disappointing that a game has been interrupted, and Mike’s report will help us understand why this has taken place,” he added.

“Player safety is critical and incidents of this type should not happen.”

It is really unfortunate that the crowd trouble caused a blur on such a wonderful match. BCCI should take note of this and take steps to ensure that such incidents do not happen in future. I would suggest that BCCI should blacklist such venues for say 5 years. Atleast then some sense comes into the crowds.

Well played Ram Naresh and the west Indians. We have a more exciting series ahead. Nice to have challenging opponents. It makes the game more interesting.
