wow, Rohit Sharma and Ashwin played unbelievable innings…what a great cricketers are Rohit Sharma and Ashwin! just wow!
he came in to bat at a time when Indian’s top order batsmen had collapsed. Tendulkar was incorrectly given out. Virat Kohli and the openers were sent back to pavilion by Shillingsford [4 wickets out of 5 taken by then], Rohit and Ashwin took charge when **India was 83 for 5 **and steered India from a dismal total to end the day with 120 run first innings at a loss of just 1 wicket of Dhoni who was out for 42. the seventh wicket partnership between Ashwin and Rohit now stands a record 200.
Rohit is OUT lbw to Peeramaul…[the decision by the umpire is questionable because the ball was going off of the off-stump missing it]…
two outs given in this inning of Tendulkar and Rohit were incorrect.
India 444/7…7th wicket partnership was worth 280 runs…India has a lead is 206…Ashwin is at **124.
**
now, the Indian tail is up…let’s see how many runs they can add.
wow! amazing bowling spell by Mohammad Shaami…5 for 47!
India win by AN INNING and 51 RUNS with TWO DAYS to spare.
3.40 pm At lunch on the second day, after India had lost five wickets for very little, who would have though they would win by an innings and 51 runs inside three days? A quite terrific turnaround, engineered by Rohit Sharma and R Ashwin and completed by Mohammed Shami.
rb: “Chanderpaul not doing enough at no.5, he has scored 31, 36no, improved his average, but done nothing for the team. He is not a nig striker of the ball, so does not bat well with the tail. Best batsman has got to take more responsibility.”
R Ashwin to Star Sports: “When I got in the way the wicket was behaving and Shillingford was bowling I thought I’d spend time at the crease and trust my defence … he was giving it an extra rip, that was a bit of a challenge … we enjoyed batting with each other, it was a pleasure watching Rohit bat. It was one of the best bowling spells I had, I was very happy, just focussing on lines.”
I’ll have the presentation for you shortly.
Vibhanshu: “Rohit Sharma’s 177 is the second highest score by an Indian batsman on debut while Mohammed Shami’s match figures of 9 for 118 are also the second best figures by an Indian debutant. Quite a coincidence!”
Shiva, from our stats team, tells me that Ashwin is the first India player to hit a hundred and take five wickets in a Test, twice.
