May be she is like one Pak columnist I admire - Irfan Hussain - writes for DAWN. He apparently lives in Sri Lanka.

I am supporting SL because I feel as Pakistanis we should return the favour they did to us when they came to play in our country when no one else was prepared to do so. They nearly paid for that with their lives. Even now there is news that they will come to play in Pakistan. so for that my full support to SL.

Check out the poll, about “Who would you like to see win the final of the 2011 World Cup?” on Dawn.

As at present, the results show:

"Who would you like to see win the final of the 2011 World Cup?

• Sachin Tendulkar (72%, 7,441 Votes)
• Muttiah Muralitharan (28%, 2,880 Votes)

Total Voters: 10,321"

So despite the fact that Srilankans have been such graceful hosts and have in the past supported Pakistan in very difficult times, an overwhelming majority want Tendulkar and India to win the final. Not that Pakistanis have anything against Srilanka either but I guess the support for India is because of the cultural proximity and India-Pakistani bhai bhai sentiment that is so prevalent in Pakistan.

I never said only Pakistanis vote on Dawn. But it is very unlikely that thousands of Indians will be visiting Dawn and voting for Tendulkar en masse. They don't stand to gain much from it; it is only a poll. Besides, Dawn is a leading Pakistani newspaper and more representative of Pakistani public opinion than Indian.

That is correct and I agree but I doubt Indians would outnumber Pakistanis visiting the Dawn website and participating in the polls. The polls do reflect Pakistani public opinion to a greater extent.
