I missed GANGULY tremendously. Wish he was there...so he could have also gone cheaply(like Tendu, Yuvraj, Kaif, Gambhir and Sehwag).....and then it would have been easy for the selectors to dump him forever.
btw, Sehwag being Captain is much like Pakistan nominating Afridi as the captain. Its insane that a thoughtful and much more experienced player like Kumble will be ignored in favour of a JATT called Sehwag.

Its good to see Laxman among runs. Wonderful batsman who is always a treat to watch.
I just hoped he did not end up like Sanjay Manjrekar. Lot of promise but short on delivery.

So since Gangu scored a 39 and 40 in Delhi, it automatically means he would have done great in Ahmedabad. Tendu and Yuvraj also performed well in Delhi but failed here…so what’s your point ?
Seriously, I am amazed by this comment esp coming from F&B. Gangu has already been given more than his fair share of oppurtunities and he has hardly ever delivered in the past two years. I hold him solely responsible for the Test Series Draw against Pakistan (and not because of his captaincy). No wonder, nobody shed any tears when he was banned for some one-dayers subsequently.
I am not one for statistics, but I think even Irfan Pathan’s batting average in the
last 2 years must be better than that of Gangu’s.
Ganguly, I am sure, must be grinning from ear-2-ear though…glad that he was dropped…now he has fans like F&B here, the stupid emotional Bongalis and politicians to pick up the cudgels for him…

This Ganguly episode reminds me of Kapil Dev's last few years of international cricket.
I remember getting into huge arguments with friends who would just not accept that Kapil Dev was over the hill and should be kicked out of the team.
He continued to be selected since his name was KAPIL DEV while doing hardly anything of note on the field....He increased his wickets tally at a snail's pace often with wickets of tail-enders during his last few years......until he broke Hadlee's world record of highest number of Test Wickets.....at that point Kapil had played 100000 tests compared to Hadlee's 86 I think.....but stupid Indian fans and media were still rejoicing at the GREAT ACHIEVEMENT.

nice work by laxman. I think india will be in a good position if they can take the score to 300 or so. I don’t rate SL’s chance of winning this match that much.
