India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test at Galle

Re: India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test at Galle

At Lunch

Herath 5

India 375 & 78/7 (36.2 ov)
India require another 98 runs with 3 wickets remaining
Sri Lanka have taken six wickets for 55 runs in 28 overs this morning. India scoring at under two an over. They have been going on and on about aggression under their new leader as if they have invented the word, but when it mattered, they have caved in meekly. They were rattled by Chandimal's counterattack on day three, and with 150-odd to get, they came out blocking this morning, letting Sri Lanka walk over them. Shikhar Dhawan took 35 deliveries to get his first run of the day, off an inside-edge past the stumps.
How well have the Sri Lankans bowled on a day-four pitch with almost nothing unplayable coming off it. Rangana Herath was wicketless in the first innings, but he has shown how dangerous he can still be. He was bang on target from his first ball this morning, using flight and angle to take another five-for. Tharindu Kaushal's loose deliveries have disappeared in the second innings and he has threatened consistently. The talk at the start of day three was whether Sri Lanka will be able to take this Test to day four. The game has turned on its head since.

Re: India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test at Galle

Enjoyed every minute today. What a pleasure to see top class spin bowling. This Kaushal has some nasty off spin and good doosra. Herath awesome. Fielders magnificent. Mathews at first slip was alert every ball. And took a nice catch off Rahane.

Hope Nohit has played his last match. Time for Vijay and Pujara. Tail starts at number 6.

Re: India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test at Galle

8 Catches by Rahane

Re: India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test at Galle

So Far no success for Kohli as Captain in 4 Test Matches

Re: India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test at Galle

India lost on their Independence Day...hahah. Love it!

Kashmiris should use this bring a faint smile on their Black Day.

So when is India Foreign Office releasing the statement that ISI sponsored Sri Lankan team defeated Indian team through a conspiracy to dampen India's Independence day celebration?

Re: India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test at Galle

Indian team present to their countrymen on independence day.

Re: India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test at Galle

To some of us, it is just a game.

Re: India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test at Galle

Yes. I believe all or most at close quarters. Several in the slips, a gaping weakness for the team.

Rahane, so far, has been unluck. Has got much more than his share of bad calls. Technically a sound player.

Re: India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test at Galle

Kohli needs to get over his brotherly love for Nohit and Harbhajan. How Nohit is in the team when an established batsman like Pujara is warming the bench is beyond me. Rahane Vijay and Pujara are technically the mist sound batsmen in Indian Test cricket.

Kohli gave the game away in the first inning. Ashwin was bowling well from one end. Had taken t wickets in something like 6 overs for 5 runs. Then Kohli brings Harbhajan from that end. Mives Ashwin to another end. Persisted with Harbhajan while he was getting slaughtered. Mishra had onky 8 overs. And had 2 wickets. But Kohli didn't give him the chance to get more.

Especially since Ashwin was already going after left handers. So Mishra leg spin wouod have been ideal to go after righties.

Nohit was uncomfortable in first innings before getting out. He didn't last long enough in 2nd inning to be uncomfortable.
