This was totally unexpected. It wasn’t day 5 and the pitch wasn’t misbehaving. Indian batsmen surely lost the plot as 176 was not a huge total to chase on this wicket. Herath (7/48) was the star of today but Chandimal was deservingly adjudged the man of the match. His 162* gave Lanka outside hope. Herath (4/15) also had a hand in the unlikely win against us at Galle in 2009 when Pakistan needing 168 for victory were all out for 117. When Herath gets it going, he is tough to negotiate in Lankan conditions for sure.

They showed a graphic yesterday. Herath has 22 5 wicket hauls in an inning from 61 tests. Like scoring 22 centuries in 61 tests.

Muthiah Muralitharan has 67 5 wicket hauls in his career. Must have been some bowler
