Re: India vs. South Africa @ Melbourne Feb 22, 2015
India gets the 5th and Ashwin gets his forst wicket of Duminy...big wicket indeed! :)
South Africa 147/5 (31.3 ov)**
31.3**
Ashwin to Duminy, OUT, and that is that for JP. Goes for the reverse sweep, and it goes with the angle again, hits his glove, and pops up to present the slip fielder an absolute dolly
**JP Duminy c Raina b Ashwin 6 (15b 0x4 0x6) SR: 40.00
Re: India vs. South Africa @ Melbourne Feb 22, 2015
**6th wicket down...the game is almost over! :)
South Africa **153/6 (33.5 ov)**
33.4**
Ashwin to Miller, 1 run, OUT, another run-out! Sweeps, finds Umesh at deep square leg, and they try to take on his arm again. Excellent throw, and Dhoni doesn't have too much work to do - in fact, he's flicked it into the stumps. They go to the third umpire, and the bails light up with the sliding Miller's bat in the air.
Re: India vs. South Africa @ Melbourne Feb 22, 2015
**7th wicket down now...:)
South Africa **153/7 (34.0 ov)**
33.6**
Ashwin to Philander, OUT, loud, sustained lbw appeal, given. Goes on the back foot and it turns in sharply and hits him on the back pad. Not sure if it hit in line. He's reviewed. No inside-edge on it, Snicko confirms. Hit the back pad on the knee roll, just in line with off stump, and then hits the top of middle stump according to Hawkeye. Two umpire's calls, and that means he's a goner
Re: India vs. South Africa @ Melbourne Feb 22, 2015
Ashwin gets his 3rd wicket. Morkel is gone.
South Africa 161/9 (37.2 ov)
37.2
Ashwin to Morkel, OUT, a bit of air now and he clears his front leg to slog-sweep, misses it completely and it straightens to clatter into the stumps
Re: India vs. South Africa @ Melbourne CWC 2015 13th. Match
An overwhelming performance by the Indians. Their display against South Africa with both bat and ball and in the field today just highlights the widening gulf between India and Pakistan
I think we sometimes downplay Indian bowling. It is more than adequate to decent for ODIs. With a strong batting line-up capable of consistently setting or chasing 300+/- totals, you don’t need to have a very strong attack. As long as your bowlers can bowl a disciplined line and length & pick up the odd wicket here and there, you are doing fine in ODIs (as you do not need to take all 10 wickets to win a game). The same Indian attack would still struggle in tests away from home because to win a test you do need 20 wickets.
Pak on the other hand have never been strong in batting and hence need wicket-taking bowlers to win games.
Pakistan used to play like this in the 80s and 90s. Alas not anymore.. Even with Amir back, looking at our abject batting and available talent pool, it will take sometime before we can put things right
And just as I had predicted SA melted under the pressure of chasing a huge total against Ashwin and co.
This is a huge win.. Congrats to indian fans here :k: thoroughly outplayed SA today
Re: India vs. South Africa @ Melbourne Feb 22, 2015
**alright!!!
India outplayed SA completely in every department. this is a very convincing win for India.
this is a big win against a big team with a huge margin...**
9.52pm India have won by 130 runs. No one would have predicted this at the start, and not even after they got 307. But they bowled with discipline with the new ball, the spinners chipped in, and the fielding was excellent. The partnership between AB and Faf kept South Africa in the hunt, but the run out of AB changed the game completely, and the rest of the batting folded without too much resistance. India have won two massive games, and their net run rate will reflect it. South Africa have a few issues to sort out, particularly with who they want to occupy that No. 7 slot. It's South Africa's biggest defeat in a World Cup game, and India's third-biggest win over them in ODIs.
India won by 130 runs with almost 10 overs to spare.
India 307/7 (50.0 ov)
South Africa 177 (40.2 ov)
India won by 130 runs

Re: India vs. South Africa @ Melbourne Feb 22, 2015
We are not even playing the best XI from the squad selected. Had we dropped Younis and opened with Sarfraz and Shehzad things might have been different. Yasir Shah also needs to play every game. He would be handy against non-Asian teams. can't go into a match with just 4 bowlers.
Pakistan are so unpredictable that they might just surprise everyone and beat SA...fingers crossed
