India vs SL : Asia Cup's first REAL match

I will put my money on SL. Indians appeared rather rusty in their first match against UAE.
What say you ?

I would not call it rusty.
I think this is going to be a low scoring tournament. They have typical Sri Lankan wickets.
None of battting lineup dominated other teams and put up big score even though all of them played against minnows. Compare that to runs scored in Pakistan series.

I think all the matches would be less than 280 type( baring 1 or 2 flukes) and we will see good contest between ball and bat.
My only concern is what will spinners do during final considering by the time final is played they would have played 5 or 6 match in that ground. I dont want to see Murali in Final. :D

Muralitharan 10 3 21 3 (3w)
Chandana 9.5 2 22 4
Danish Kaneria 8.2 1 26 1 (1w)
Shoaib Malik 10 0 41 2
Kumble 7 1 16 1 (2w)
Tendulkar 4 0 21 3

Or may be I am over-analysing.

I predict an Indian victory.

me 2, don't want that though.
Go Sri Lanka!!!

One good thing for India is that the Sri Lankans haven't seen much of Pathan or Balaji...so they might start cautiously against them...
Also, I dont think Murali's bowling (or chucking !) would worry the Indians that much !

Def the first real match of Asia cup and i think India should prevail. But lets see.

It may not in intial match but on wornout wicket he could be deadly if SL plays final at all.

^ Well yeah these wickets are tailormade for Murali.

i think both teams have equal chance but sri lanka has home advantage.............................

What time is the game starting.
I mean central time.

srilankans have proven weaker against even the weak slow bowling of uae....
and with india playing kumble, sehwaq, tendulkar, yuvraj, perhaps harbajan as well, i think it will be difficult for sri lanka....

indians too might find it difficult to score....

dont know, can predict much....

and everyone please pray that there is NO RAIN....

*Sri lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. *

I just saw that VVS Laxman is missing from the Indian Line up and Patel is playing instead. Dont know the reason.

^Dravid may have refused to don the gloves...

Where are you seeing this...as per the time mentioned on rediff, the match starts after 30 minutes.

^ Well u are right...verified it on Cricinfo

Chance of rain 60%

Looks like the only match worth following so far...would be a wash out.

I dont think so. Dravid knows he has to keep wickets throughout his oneday career so my guess is that VVS is missing through an injury or seomthing.

As per Cricinfo : VVS Laxman is injured and the best batsman on the bench is Parthiv Patel. So Patel comes in much to the delight of Dravid, I guess.

btw, I have more confidence in Dravid's wicket-keeping than Patel's.

from Cricinfo

Mixed clouds and sun with scattered thunderstorms. High 84F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 60% is the forecast for the day…

The weather has been kind to us so far and hopefully the forecasters will be proved wrong once again…

news from the middle is that the Sri Lankan captain Marvan Atapattu has won the toss and elected to bat first…

Santh Jayasuriya has been rested, Vaas is back :k:and the all-rounder Farveez Maharoof gets a place in the playing eleven…

just the one change in the Indian team, Laxman is out due to injury and Parthiv Patel comes in to replace him…

at the moment it’s bright and sunny…
