India end the day at 146/5

Re: India vs SA 1st test Johannesburg (Fri 15 - Tue 19)

I wonder what has happened to Dravid these days.
He is generally a "always-in-form" player.

Re: India vs SA 1st test Johannesburg (Fri 15 - Tue 19)

And Jaffer....I think Pathan as a batsman would have scored more runs than him.

^ Please share your thoughts regarding Mr Saurav :D

Re: India vs SA 1st test Johannesburg (Fri 15 - Tue 19)

I have always been an advocate of Shreeshanth and Ganguly because they bring a zing to the team. Now I have been vindicated. Thank you all for apprecitaing my foresightedness and vision.

Re: India vs SA 1st test Johannesburg (Fri 15 - Tue 19)

Well...there are fellow Indians(esp Bongs) out there...who would cite his fifty as testimony of Gangu's greatness. The fact of the matter is that he is still a crap batsman against Pace bowling and more importantly he is not getting any younger. He might score a fifty here and a twenty there but he is not good for India in the medium or long term.
Its a good thing that he has "relatively" good scores in this test match which has certainly helped India's cause, but we have seen far too much of him in the past to suddenly have a different opinion now about his batting against fast bowlers.

Re: India vs SA 1st test Johannesburg (Fri 15 - Tue 19)

As for Sreesanth....they say "When the market is bullish, even a moron can make money".

Yes, I seem to dish every player in the Indian team...but that unfortunately is the situation....The Indian team is a bunch of over-hyped average players both in the bowling and batting department.

Players like Hussey, Hayden, Sangakarra, Ponting, Pietersen, Fleming etc fare much better internationally but dont have the backing of 1 billion fans to give them the publicity the Indian players get.

Re: India vs SA 1st test Johannesburg (Fri 15 - Tue 19)

^ In general you are right. even only 'good' players are called great and greatest in India and sometimes in Pakistan also. It is to do with the crowd support but as usual population is biggest strength for India

Re: India vs SA 1st test Johannesburg (Fri 15 - Tue 19)

the ‘zing’ after taking a wicket? :cb:

Re: India vs SA 1st test Johannesburg (Fri 15 - Tue 19)

 Mondy Morning quarterbacks.

Re: India vs SA 1st test Johannesburg (Fri 15 - Tue 19)

Well...Didnt we felt same way for Sachin till few years back. I guess, law of averages is catching up with him as it caught up with Hayden & Inzi and Sachin in past. It is yet to do it for Ponting and Dravid.

Re: India vs SA 1st test Johannesburg (Fri 15 - Tue 19)

That is absolutely right. I would much rather have low-profile performers like Fleming , Hussey, Jaywardane or Sangakarra in my side rather than a fair-weather "batting legend" like Tendulkar.
