The most unfortunate part of Indian Cricket right now is that there is no budding batting talent (no future Tendu or Dravid) in Domestic Cricket. Hence we have to make do with the same set of failed veterans - Gangu, Sehwag, Laxman et al. That a player of pace bowling like Gangu had to be recalled is in itself pathetic.
India has always been starved of bowling talents but this is probably the first time when there appears to be a dearth of good batters.

Update 8.41GMTAnd finally we have official news from the New Wanderers. There will be an inspection at 11.15 local time, the toss will take place at 11.30, and play will start at 12.00 local time. That is 10.00 GMT, and a delay of ninety minutes from the scheduled start.

Toss News has just come in that India has won the toss and chosen to bat.
The team news is as follows: India: Wasim Jaffer, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid (capt), Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Anil Kumble, Zaheer Khan, VRV Singh, Sreesanth. The man to miss out is Harbhajan Singh.
South Africa: Graeme Smith, AB de Villiers, Herschelle Gibbs, Jacques Kallis, Hashim Amla, Ashwell Prince, Mark Boucher, Andre Nel, Makhaya Ntini, Dale Steyn, Shaun Pollock. On the South African side it is Andrew Hall who misses out. He is the 12th man.
