India Vs Australia, 2nd Final at Brisbane, 4th March 2008

I took chance to open this thread and Pray that India clicks. Good opportunity for India to seal the finals.

India (Playing XI): Sachin Tendulkar, Robin Uthappa, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma, Mahendra Singh Dhoni(w/c), Irfan Pathan, Piyush Chawla, Harbhajan Singh, Praveen Kumar, S Sreesanth

Australia (Playing XI): Adam Gilchrist(w), Matthew Hayden, Ricky Ponting(c), Michael Clarke, Andrew Symonds, Mike Hussey, James Hopes, Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson, Nathan Bracken, Stuart Clark

India have won the toss and decided to bat first

Pitch Report: Excellent conditions for cricket here at the Gabba. It is bright and sunny and it is a hot day today. The dimensions on this ground are pretty huge with the boundaries over 70 metres on all sides. The pitch is pretty good and it is win the toss and bat first. The cracks might just open up later in the day. The only problem with batting first is the chances of dew at night but the curator says that dew might not play a role till around midnight and the match will be all over by then.

Re: India Vs Australia, 2nd Final at Brisbane, 4th March 2008

australia going with no spinners, India going with 2...interesting! hahaha, im sure the decision is also influenced by sharma being injured, there is really no choice and piyush bowled really well last game

Re: India Vs Australia, 2nd Final at Brisbane, 4th March 2008

good steady start by India, 45/0 after 12 overs

Re: India Vs Australia, 2nd Final at Brisbane, 4th March 2008

Uthappa moves towards the off even before the ball is bowled.
His limited range of strokes is so glaringly obvious....

That said, he might score a 50 or a 100 here, so please don't kill me for saying the above.

And as I write this...Tendu plays a Dhoni shot....cross-batted straight drive for FOUR.

Re: India Vs Australia, 2nd Final at Brisbane, 4th March 2008

50 run patnership and runs are coming quick
tendulkar looking good after a nervous start and utthapa looking solid so far

Re: India Vs Australia, 2nd Final at Brisbane, 4th March 2008

Good sensible start by India. Third Power play is on.

India: 73/0 (16.0 Ovs)

Robin Uthappa 25(39)

Sachin Tendulkar* 42(57)

Re: India Vs Australia, 2nd Final at Brisbane, 4th March 2008

Uthappa gone!!!

After a good start, he could have consolidated further, but he tried something different and lost his wicket.

Uthappa c Hopes b Clark 30(49)

India: 94/1 (20.5 Ovs)

Re: India Vs Australia, 2nd Final at Brisbane, 4th March 2008

yeah i think that was a forced shot, oh well he did his job, was looking forward to him playing his shots

Re: India Vs Australia, 2nd Final at Brisbane, 4th March 2008

Aussie ground fielding (esp by Michael Clarke) has saved at least 7-8 boundaries I think.

Clarke just saved a certain boundary.

Good stuff.

Re: India Vs Australia, 2nd Final at Brisbane, 4th March 2008

Looks like my fellow 1 billion Indians have brought down Cricinfo.
There is only so many hits the website can take.

Meanwhile Gambhir brings about his own downfall. He was looking very good.

Re: India Vs Australia, 2nd Final at Brisbane, 4th March 2008

and Yuvi opens his account with a 6...........

Re: India Vs Australia, 2nd Final at Brisbane, 4th March 2008

that was just blasted^

gambhir would be kicking himself, the conditions look good for batting

Re: India Vs Australia, 2nd Final at Brisbane, 4th March 2008

Oh man......that ball from Symonds was asking to be hit out of the stadium. Such a long-hop and Yuvraj hits it right down a fielder's throat.

Re: India Vs Australia, 2nd Final at Brisbane, 4th March 2008

damn if yuvi was there, the target would have been well over 300 for sure

Re: India Vs Australia, 2nd Final at Brisbane, 4th March 2008

This is what I like about Dhoni.

Always backs himself to deliver the goods.....promotes himself ahead of Rohit Sharma here.

Re: India Vs Australia, 2nd Final at Brisbane, 4th March 2008

2 spinners in the squad might be a issue if we see how we belted Symonds and Clarke( well to be fair these two are not exactly spinners)

Re: India Vs Australia, 2nd Final at Brisbane, 4th March 2008

Tendulkar falls in the 90s once again.

I think he brings it upon himself by ceasing to play in the same momentum when he approaches 100.

Re: India Vs Australia, 2nd Final at Brisbane, 4th March 2008

Over numbers 39,40 and 41 yields only 9 runs...

India losing momentun.

Re: India Vs Australia, 2nd Final at Brisbane, 4th March 2008

damn india choking here
need some quick runs to put up a competitive target

Re: India Vs Australia, 2nd Final at Brisbane, 4th March 2008

pathan cant seem to get bat on ball if his life depended on it
really pathetic batting from him

India going to struggle to win this match now, they barely got any runs in the last 10 overs, after that start, it was too good to be true...
