For perspective, the number of people killed in wars in the 20th century : 160 million.

of people killed in Info Pak wars:

1947 1 million
1965 ??
1971 500,000
1999 ??

While people are busy worrying about which side is more evil, it was very difficult to determine how many soldiers perished in each war.

I found only one site that had some numbers. The 1947 numbers probably include civilian deaths. Assuming 1965 death figures for soldiers same as 1971, together both these wars have consumed the lives of 1 million jawans on both sides.

We should hang our heads in collective shame. We are too busy attacking each other and the " other" country. God forbid we show the same concern for the jawans on BOTH sides.

How about a moment of silence for these decent people who are the pawns?

Forgot to provide the only link I found on jawans casualty in Info Pak conflicts. This clearly is not a newsworthy and eye catching story.

Acting like humanistic is not going to work until India or Indians look in to the issues from point of view of ‘others’.

You said Indian stance ‘may be inconsistent’. That is a dishonest to the core statement. That reminded me the statement from another guppie who said “I would be the first to condemn” India.

As I proved earlier, Kashmir and Sri Lanka issues are not the same. Two different issues and hence the position of Pakistan is different.
So please do not equate Indian inconsistency with Pakistan position.

FYI: India lost thousands of it’s ‘jawaans’/pawns and its Prime Minister in trying to meddle with Sri lanka and training LTTE.

Personally, I care about the human rights violation everywhere, especially of innocent civilians. I support Arundati Roy, who has been outspoken about abuse of Kashmiri civilians. I also support the innocent civilians in Sri Lanka.

The Indian stance may be inconsistent. Equally inconsistent is Pakistan’s selective support of Kashmiri civilians while being against the Tamil civilians in Sri Lanka.

Good people everywhere should rise above religious and nationalistic boundaries to speak up against abuse everywhere. And I know you to be a good and decent man.
