India visit visa..

Does anyone know whats the procedure and how hard is to get a visit visa for India for a couple with Pakistani passports and no relatives in India? I should also mention that the purpose is to attend a friend’s wedding in India (Gujrat to be precise) and just to visit around for a week!

To substitute for the relatives in India, can ppl use the wedding invitation and friends family support, if needed or no?

Re: India visit visa..

GtG: u should be able to use the names and addresses of family friends, along with the proper proof etc. such as the wedding invitations - u'll need to apply for the visa on a pakistani passport...and it takes "several months" to actually get the visa processed, so do keep that in mind!

The visa procedure will still be the same otherwise...the visa folks will go around to the contacts listed on ur visa application, to verify that they know u/have invited u for the wedding etc...

Oh and 1 more thing...u have to declare a port of entry as well on the visa application, and u CANNOT change that under any circumstances...so make sure u decide before hand if u'll be flying, or going by road...i recall just 3 ports of entry on the application - attari, delhi and mumbai...

best of luck :)

Re: India visit visa..

If you are applying from Pakistan, it may be a smooth process, but if you are in USA, the forget it, unless you personally know someone or you go there and hit it off with someone there :smack:

How come so, Niksik? Should it not be the other way around confused?

why do you want to go to a non-muslim country.. aren't you afraid of your life and belongings?

Re: India visit visa..

^when did u came out of mental institution?

I am just warning him after what happened in the state of Gujjarat in India. Pakistan should also only allow muslim tourists as non-muslims bring alcohol to Pakistan.

Re: India visit visa..

Visa???
dude we take over when we feel like visiting.

Re: India visit visa..

yes whatever DM said plus, you will have to fill 6 application forms so make sure you have 6 passport size pictures, i think the average time taken is 6-7 weeks.

also, you will have to mention the name and address of the person you will be staying with in India, the same person will have to go with you to the police station for the 'entry' and 'exit' process... oh by the way its same when an indian applies for a pakistani visa... so dont throw rotten tomatoes on me

Niksik, its much easy to get indian visa from London, fatee always prefers applying from London, she has applied three times and got her visa in couple of days everytime, may be coz I am her husband and was Indian at that time, not sure how long it will take now that I am a British. She will be applying again in Nov inshaAllah.

I am a Pakistani myself. And honestly: This is one of the most stupid statements I've ever read.

Re: India visit visa..

hmm it sounds way more complicated than I thought..

DM.. Thanks a lot.. thats helpful..my friend with her family is still in the US and will be going there for her wedding in Dec-Jan.. our plan is to go there pretty much around the same time. I guess I should just omit the element of surprise and let her know exactly how things will work.

Niksik.. we will be applying from Pakistan.. even though I am in the USA at the moment..what do you mean by personally know someone.. at the embassy?

md_minhas.. let me add fuel to the fire.. I will be attending a non-muslim wedding.. sue me :p

Daagh.. can my husband file from Pakistan while I am here since I will be in Pakistan for only a few weeks? What happens if you are going there just for the visit.. I dun have any dur par ke relatives in India so if I dun have a friend, does that mean I will never get the visa because no one will be able to accompany me for entry and exit?

We do feel like applying for a visit visa without even mentioning the wedding just so no one has to go through that hassle.. is it possible?

I just posted in the other thread. We applied for an India visa in the 90s. We had no relatives, except an uncle who worked at the Pak Embassy, but the trip was just tourist in nature. We applied at the Islamabad consulate, had no problems and got the visa the same day. We did need some paperwork from our own foreign office, and that would have taken a long time had it not been for an acquintance there.

Re: India visit visa..

Who in the right mind want to visit India by going through all the hassle. My mother recently went there and the whole ordeal was unbelievable. Last country that I wish to visit might be Inida.

Re: India visit visa..

GtG as far as I know you need will need someones name and address. So better give the details of the people you are visiting.

Yes you can apply from Pak.

In that case you may not face the kind of problems that we have faced here. I've heard thet the process is quite simple from Pakistan.

And by personally know someone, I meant sifaarish!

Re: India visit visa..

My father used to work for Pakistani government and they never allowed us to go to India for some damn security reasons.

Now I don’t think I will going there in future .

Re: India visit visa..

Kevyan, not even if I invite you :ASA:

Re: India visit visa..

Spock.. that was back in 90's, things have changed significantly now.. one of our friends from UAE went to India for another friends wedding in 2005 and even though she is a US citizen(UAE resident) it took about 4 months to get the visa! It was a big hassle and thats what scares me!

AArzi.. she is one of my best friends.. I wanna try as much as possible no matter how hard it is!

Daagh.. I spoke to her today.. she will definitely get me an invite for the shadi as soon as possible and also she will check with her dad for more details for her family... so I will be meeting up with her on Friday to discuss more for the application.. Also, she told me that if we travel in India by car, there is a check post every 200 miles so we should rather stick to train journey.. what do you suggest? We would love to go to Agra, Rajisthan, Goa and more.. I need to do my research with you guys and Nimko!!

Niksik.. hmmm I do have a green card.. I hope it doesnt become a problem.. I wont be in Pakistan when my husband would apply for the visa, lets see how the process goes!!
